Default Double Creme VPAF Pickups Look Nice In My SG

I just got the neck VPAF Dimarzio installed and adjusted.Still need to road test the pickup though? The VPAF Hot in the bridge is really great though...I Normally like nickel covers, but I Must say the double cremes are pretty intoxicating! :6:

I've had this SG for ions and when it was new it was Antique Ivory.Notice how years of gigging with it has turned it into a yellow coloring....She's a bit relic ed also with paint checking, wear on the paint and chips along the body...She plays great and has been re-fretted once....

I originally thought I had a 59N pickup in this guitar, but turns out I Left the stock Gibson SG pickup in place, but I had put an A5 magnet in it...Guess I Must have liked it alot to keep it?

Sorry the guitar photos are backwards! The guitar is lefty....

Awesome! Double cream looks really good in some guitars. Now you've really given me GAS for the VHPAF!
Funny control layout in yours, the switch was located there from the beginning?

Yep....Stock 1985 Gibson SG Standard....I've had it pretty much since then...The input jack is in the same place as it is on a Tele and I Like it there alot better!

I Know this Neck VPAF will be as great as the VPAF Hot in the bridge.I can just feel it....LOL

I'd put cream surrounds on it too. You won't.

Hey STRATDELUXER97 are those bobbins glossy like, cause I got some double cream dimarzios too and they don't have that glossy look on them. They just have plain plastic kind of look.

Kind of a satin finish(Not really glossy, but not flat either)....Very nice looking also! This photo makes the pickup look glossy though?

Hey guys, I tried the Air Zone in my friend's LP and it sounds nice although not as clear as I like in a pickup. I also tested the VHPAF in his LP Standard. Also, very nice but there always seems to be something with Dimarzios that bug me. I have been testing a Wolfetone Marshallhead bridge pickup and I can't find anything to beat it but the Rio BBQ and Duncan C-5 were also nice. My one complaint about Dimarzio is they look really cheap. Why is that? Just curious...not causing trouble because they sound good!

It is a similar thing that i hear in PRS pickups, not as lively as I like in a pickup. Hard to explain, but you know when you hit it right. They scare me because they seem made so cheap compared to something like Duncans.

Lively and 3D is something I've been enjoying with both of my VPAF Dimarzios...The VPAF Hot bridge is excellent....The neck VPAF balances great with the bridge pickup, but it's a bit boomy for me on the Low E and the A strings....

I don't agree that the Dimarzios aren't made as well as the Duncans? At least not with the VPAF series!

Looks awesome. One question though, why didn't you go with the F-spaced VHPAF in the bridge? Would have lined up perfectly. Some guitars the F-space in the neck is actually the better fit.

I don't know, guess I figured the STD spacing was ok? F spacing is normally "Fender" and not Gibson! Right? The spacing looks fine to me actually...

from the pics it looks like the spacing is fine.

on my Gibson I have to use F-spaced pickups in the bridge cuz standard spaced pickups dont line up good at all.

John, in 94 or 95 Gibson went to a slightly wider string spacing and a lot of guys are hung up on that...they think that a trem spaced pickup fits better in the bridge but I have never thought so...neither does Gibson seeing that they never shanged the actual spacing of the pickups!
