Default HB suggestions for a Studio Paul

hey guys, just joined the forum here.right now i am really confused,i want to switch out the stock hb's in my studio paul but i don't know what to switch them out with.i have a few hb's in mind:classic '57s,SD alnico II,SD jazz,SD '59s.
i want to get a very clean sound without any drive and i want a pretty bada$$ distortion with drive up.my favorite guitarist is slash (in case that helps) and i'm into blues, hard rock, jazz, classic rock.if you guys could help me make my decision i would highly appreciate it.thanks.

    Welcome to the forum.

I think an APH set would be right up your alley.
    Ain't nothin' but a G thang, baby.

I loved the Classic 57's I had in the studio I used to own.

My favorite pickups in a Paula are the PG set, they'll be able to cover any sound you're after.

I've replaced my Studio pickups with PG's, then JBs. To be honest, I kind of miss the 490s that were in the thing from the beginning but I gave them to a buddy. I think the JBs in both neck and bridge give the guitar some character. I thought I'd like the PGs but IMHO, they were just thin to my ears. As for Slash, I think most of his (phenominal) tone is in a cranked Marshall mic'd up just right--pickups would be the last step in the chain I'd worry about.
