Default hmmm something resonating in my guitar body

I'm not exactly sure how to explain this but when I hit the low C or the C one octave higher something in my guitar is resonating. It's strange that it is only resonating at that frequency so its not like something is loose and just vibrating when any random string is hit. Something in the guitar is actually being excited by the frequency of the C note and its octave. Is it possible for the tremelo springs to resonate cause it sounds like a very metallic resonance? Its not like its being picked up electrically but acoustically I can hear it and its enough to bother me at times. Any thoughts?

*edit* it's a schaller trem btw

Could be trem springs.... but it could also be like one of my MIM strats that has the G string ringing above the nut for C and G notes... I thought the trouble was at the bridge for the longest time... then one night at 4am i was sitting on teh edge of my bed strumming my guitar in teh dark quiet and i heard the metallic buzzing of the G string ringing out above the nut..... I checked everything on that guitar! drove me nuts....

Also i had another MIM Strat with vintage style tuners and the A Sting tuner was sloppy in the gears..... so when i hit certian notes it buzzed with them... oddly it buzzed more with G notes then A notes.... Replaced the tuner and have not had any trouble since

Hmmm never thought about the nut doing that. But, this really sounds like its coming from within the body. Unless, the nut ringing makes a sound that really doesn't lend itself to location very well. It's hard to hit a C note and try and hold the note and move the guitar around to hear were its coming from.

As i said with both strats that had trouble at the headstock with either the strings ringing out or the sloppy tuner buzzing it was hard to find the true sorce.... alot of the time it sounded like it was near the bridge...

Taped off behind the nut and blocked the springs with foam?

Good idea, I'll try throwing some foam on the springs and see if thats it.

i had a similar problem recently... only mine was more of a "rattling"... finally determined that it was coming from in the neck, so i figured it must be the truss rod. Took out the hex wrench, tightened the rod about 1/8 of a twist, voila... problem solved.

Dampen the trem springs with foam. If that doesn´t help, try the same to the headstock (foam behind the nut).

If that doesn´t work, it´s quite possible that you´re hitting the instruments resonant frequency... this is much harder to alleviate.
