Mexican Strat alder body, Mighty Mite birdseye maple/maple neck, black hardware, A5 59/Custom hybrid. All that's left is swapping the gold tuners for black. So far, it plays extremely well and sounds f'n sweet.

I'm not a strat man but that looks simple and sweet...congrats!

It's pretty much a one trick pony right now. But so far, it does that one trick extremely well. Perhaps some day I'll add a DPDT switch to it so I can split the pickup and get a couple different sounds from it. But I'm in no hurry right now.

Thats gorgeous. I disagree with Surgeon.
Its a TraviStrat. You "need" to add the coil split switch. Tastefully. Somehow.

Wait a minute... I said it looked sweet even tho I'm not a strat-man...Originally Posted by ArtieToo

Perfect. No other words.
Ah wait... Floyd?

Hehehehe sorry dude someone HAD to say it right? I had plans to do this to a MIM for a bit actually, transform a bog nornal black MIM Strat into a superstrat. I like how yours turned up a lot.

Very cool! You should definitely put in a push-pull knob for a coil split as per Artie's suggestion ... unless supreme simplicity is your goal.
Where's the pickguard from?

The pickguard is from Warmoth. I was going to go with black pearl. But a couple of minutes before I went to the website to order it, I found the white pearl, single hum guard for less than half price. So, in the name of frugality, I went with it instead.
Artie, how big of a hole does the DPDT switch require? I could always move the volume knob up a touch and use the existing hole for the switch. I just want to make sure the knob is out of the way of my picking hand. The only complaint I have with my Charvels is that the volume knob is so close to where I position my right hand.

Great looking axe!, the fretboard looks like it has some nice figure too. Single hum superstrats are the new black.

I thought about a Floyd. I actually have a spare chrome Schaller just sitting around not being used. But, for the purpose of simplicity this time around, I went with the traditional trem. I just don't use a Floyd all that often, so I didn't see the need right now.Originally Posted by Pierre
Be prepared for my next project. I'm going to do an oiled mahogany H/H Tele with a strat style fixed bridge, STB. I'll keep updates coming on that one.

Looks great. Hows the figuring on the MM neck? Was thinking about getting one for my Squier.

Lookin' good, man. With black tuners it will be perfect.

I'd like to see a close-up on that neck as well, if you have a chance. And could you compare the mighty mites quality to the quality of a Mexican Fender or Warmoth? How does the neck feel and play?
Looks killer BTW.

Doesn't get any simpler than that. Nice.![]()

Interesting. That sounds like it would be a pretty good fit for an alder SuperStrat.Originally Posted by Travis
How about a push/pull on your volume for the coil split? That way you don't have to add any holes. I'd leave the gold tuners, adds a little sparkle to the mix. The ladies will find it sexy.

I really wanna make a project so bad. Though just not sure if i could handle to costs to get it all completely done. Sometime one day

Here's a closeup of the neck. The Mighty Mite neck actually feels really good. It's the second MM neck I've used, and the first one was reworked quite a bit before I got it (refret, re-radius, etc). This one had some good fret work done on it before I got it, also. I've not used a Warmoth neck before and the MIM neck that was on it had vintage frets which I do not like. So I didn't spend a lot of time with it.
