    Default Help!!!Tone changed

Hi all, I am a newbie here.
I've got TB-4(rear) and 59(front) om my white Crews Maniac Sound guitar(japanese guitar).

It has three tone selecter and one volume/one tone.

I used to like clean tone and crunch drive tone of it.

Oneday I found that the clean tone has changed dramatically.
It booms a lot. It doesn't sound like what it used to be at all.
I can't really decribe properly but it sounds as if magnetic part(5th-6th string position) has broken or something.

I've tried to spay some cleaner(Electro-Sound cleaner) but no luck so far.

Has anyone had similar problem before?

    ciao

Okay---so you have to do a bit of troubleshooting here. This sounds more like an amplifier thing than a guitar or pickup thing.

    Change the guitar cable.
Try the guitar through a different amp.
Try a different guitar through YOUR amp.
    Change your strings.
Remove any pedals from between the guitar and amp.

In other words---eliminate everything else, and then focus on the guitar.

do you have a tube amp? you might need to replace the tubes if you do
Fender Stratocaster - EMG 81/85 (camo)
    Ibanez RG550 - Invader (b)
    Taylor 110E Acoustic
    Traynor YCV 20

    Thx guys, however...

    Change the guitar cable.
    - cable seems to be fine. I double-checked.

Try the guitar through a different amp.
    - I use mesa/boogie studio preamp at the studio and old roland GP-8(line-out) rigging into my hard recording card for writing songs.
So I no it's nothing to do with amps.

Try a different guitar through YOUR amp.
    - this also tried with my esp explorer(emg 81)

    Change your strings.
    - they're newly replaced.

Remove any pedals from between the guitar and amp.
    - well tried all...

    -----------------------------------------------------

Well..I should have explained more details of my situation.
I've been using active pickup for long time. I rarely use passive pickups(well..except that my old fender tele deluxe)
So I'm not really familiar with that especially when this happens.

Yeah sound quite boomy like when the tube's gone bad.
That silly sound happens when I use front pickup (or locate the selecter in the middle)

It could be the guitar. I don't know...maybe I have to go to repair shop for checking.

I will check my guitar carefully again.
Just in case, anyone knows how to fix if the pickup's gone wrong?

    cheers

Make sure all connections for the front pickup are properly wired and there are no loose connections to the switch and to ground, and replace the switch if in doubt.

Other than that, I'm also stuck. I've never seen a pickup go bad half way.
