    Default pickup dilemma

Ok, Im looking between the alnico pro 2's, 59's, seth lover, and pearly gates.

I am playing a Les Paul standard with a Jimmy Page mod (4 push pull)

I need the PU to be a 4 conductor wire, I need bridge and neck.

Music style is like, Zeppelin, Guns n Roses, Extreme, Alice in Chains.

generally a little hotter than Page live, but not in the territory of metal, but deff, old Black Sabbath type.

I am fine with mixing and matching for an optimal sound.

    thanks,

    Mike

Do a search on this stuff -there are inummerable posts. That said:

    I'm thinking A2p neck, 59 bridge.

Seth's are ultra vintage PAF (think a real, old PAF)
A2's are big fat vintage PAF's
59's are the classic all around (think old PAF made today)
PG's are slightly goosed on top and a little hotter

The axe I'd use for that stuff, however, and is my go-to Zep guitar, actually has a PG neck / Custom Custom bridge. If I want the "Slash" tone I roll the tone down a bit. My stock neck pup on the 79 nails the Slash, thing, interestingly. That PG-CC combo may be the slightly hot but not-too-much thing you want.

Well, also Id like to take into consideration that I would be using either a Jcm 2000 DSL 100, mkII JMP or my metro amp 100w plexi.

Id like to make it optimal for gigging volume. I have 498/500t in my LP now, and imo it sounds farty on any amp when I am gigging.

What would be best for gigging volume/ Page on steroids tone?

when i say slash tone, not live, Appetite for Destruction is what Im shooting for.

    ACEMAN beat me to it

get an alnico II pro neck (4-wire) and a 59 Bridge (also 4-wire, $5 or $10 dollar upcharge)

you'll A4D Slash tones and JP tones and LOVE it

    good luck

Thank you for the afgreement gentlemen...

And as for the ampage- The response still stands. More than enough gain for any purpose there. Lower output pups like these will sound betterthan hotties. Be sure to get that 4 wire upgrade on the 59!

And read all of the Page-mod posts here too.
