    Default Duckbucker confusion/question

I'm thinking about a Duckbucker in the middle if I change my tele from H-H to H-S-H. I don't know anything about strats but I want to get some strat tones and I like the sound/quack of the Duckbucker in SD's soundbite.

The SD website description of the SDBR-1 says "Wire in parallel for Vintage Strat tones, or in series for higher output."

If the coils are wired in parallel is it still hum-cancelling??

Is the Duckbucker soundbite PU wired in series or parallel??

Should I use a single-coil instead of a HB to approximate vintage strat tones in an H-S-H tele?? Which one???

(I've got PearlyGates-neck and CustomCustom-bridge in it now; I'm going to try my new Custom-bridge this weekend. I've also got Jazz and ANP-2 neck PUs. I'm currently set up to split the n/b HBs and put them in/out of phase or in series)

If I go H-S-H (probably will) I'm thinking of wiring the middle for in/out of phase or off--no middle only: good idea or bad??

ANY thoughts or advice would be very much appreciated!!!!

first, you need to ask yourself if you are going to bend strings much when using the duck ... if you are going to bend strings, you want to use a vintage rails instead of a duck .. if you bend strings with the duck, you will hear a noticeable drop off in volume as the string moves away from the 'field of view' of the tiny pole pieces ...

another good thing to consider is the new classic strat plus instead ... i like a quiet guitar, so i am partial to the stacks, lils, rails, etc for single coil sized pups ...

the duck clips were probably wired parallel and yes, they are hum cancelling either way

    good luck

    Thanks t4d--

I've read a lot of good things about the classic strat plus, but it doesn't come in black--gotta have black (black guitar/pickguard-vanity~).

I'm a bending fool. And i don't use a pick, so I'd probably want to have the middle PU low. does the dropout problem apply to APS-1/2 SSL 1/2 also?

i thought the new classic stack plus pups DO come in black - call lew or wymore for details

if you are gonna set em low, i think you want to stay away from the rails and duck .. they work best set high

i dont think the drop out problem exists too much for pups with normal sized polepieces
