    Default Mids Are The SHIZZNAT!!!

I was just playing around with my settings, and I cranked the mids for fun...Holy crap!!! It's friggen awesome! I though the sound was really good before, but now its amazing. I can only imagine how badass the mids of the C5 would be...But I'd be concerned about the gain factor. MIDS RULE!!!

I never really understood why anyone ever scooped em. I play with mine around 8 or so.

It tightens the amp up. Good for speed riffing, like in thrash.

I never had it scooped, but it was always a notch or two behind the others. Like treble at 8, mids at 5, bass at 7. now its treble at 8, mids at 10, bass at 7.

Mids are always at 10 for me, except when I'm using my JB, then they go to like 3...

I play w/ my mids at 10 also. My bass usually stays at about 3 and my treble at about 7.

Mine's on ten. Easiest way to dial in my tone - crank the mids, then adjust the bass and treble to suit the sound

    no
sorry I'm not a metal speed riffer but I'm not a keen mids person
I play mostly clean with lots of reverb and delay. If you crank the mids and play that it just sounds really gooey and nasty.
If I set my mids below the other two I get a nice snap!

I put in a reasonable (but still fairly low) amount of mids on the amp, then I've got an active mid boost on the guitar if I need it, and a 6-band EQ stompbox that I set to give me a mid and volume boost.

I have to say, I only intended to have the mid boost there for occasional use, but it's on more often than off now

no man, i still have tons of mids dialed in even with the middy JB. it just brings out that fat creamy sound(but in a way bright) which i love. i guess your style is different from mine.

Certain amps can be more middy than others. While I set mine around 7-10 on my Mark IV, I have to scoop the mids on the graphic EQ for fear of peeling the paint off the walls!

Mids are where the MOJO is at. Its the secret sauce that allows you to be heard over the other members in your band.

If anyone wants to hear a really good metalcore band with a very noticable amount of mids in their tone, check out Converge.

That's the band that made me realize most of what i like about distortion is in the crunch.
