    Default Got the invader

so i finally got the invader for my rx10d rhoads, and it just became my main guitar. Really thickened up the sound but i didn't lose any highs which shocked the hell out of me. Very underated pickup and perfect for metal riffs which i am very fond of. wish the rr-1 came stock with these instead of the jb cause im saving up for one now. If the american made ones are even better than the imports i can't wait

Great to hear you are loving the Invader's highs. There seems to be a lot "bad press" by users about the @ss heavy nature of this pickup. I recently went with another product because of this.

    Do you downtune your axe?

When I had the Invader in my 7-string, I really liked it from about a low D or so up - it was just below that that it got a bit muddy. It'd be great in a 6-string.

Yep i downtune to drop d 1/2 step. Just works well for what i play and the sound im after. The dark meaty opeth kinda sound with my own flavor thrown in.

I still can't get the idea of putting one in my Les Paul out of my head. Wish I could hear it like that before I commit to it.

I had one in a SG and I didn't like it. Very undefined. Sounded pretty badass in my strat though

It is a great pickup to add a little darkness to a light guitar. It may be THE ticket for a swimming pool route. Works great in a light Dinky I have.

I have a MegaDrive in one of my RX10D's and a DD in the other. For me, an Invader would be a bit dark.

Glad you are lovin' it GNR. It is one of my 2 most fav's from Duncan.

Yeah it is a dark sounding pup but works really well with the alder body and floyd. Especially thru my bright blue voodoo, its the cat's ass

I meant that my jackson is an awesome guitar already and the U.S.A. models are supposedly even better.

I always thought the Invaders sound a bit muddy in mahogany guitars like an SG or Les Paul. After swapping the pole pieces for smaller hex poles (like from a Dimarzio Super Distortion) it tightened the tone and it wasn't as flubby. Especially in the Les Paul bridge....
