Default Finally Got A Tele! (Pic Inside)

Thanks to Mike (XSSIVE) for directing me to his friend John's (paultelestrat) sale, I have a new Tele on the way. It is en route as I type this with expected delivery of next Tuesday. It's a 1991 American Standard Tele. I cannot wait for it to arrive, but I'm gonna have to. It will remain stock for a while so I can get acclimated with it. It's been a LONG time since I've owned a Tele. This pic was taken by Mike for John and posted in the thread in the Trading Post. I'll take a few when I get it as well.

New stuff rawks! (even if it is used )

MikeS, changed in what way? For the better I hope. I know these things are unforgiving so it'll make me clean up my playing I guess.

Hoss, that is a cool color guard. I saw a black pearl last weekend at the Dallas Guitar Show but after seeing it, decided to stick with the white. Actually, my wife decided I should stick with the white....lol. She's the one who suggested the white pearl to being with.

Mike (XSSIVE), I actually saved all those pics on my hard drive at home...lol. I have them in a hidden directory on my site for now. And it ain't gettin' no Floyd or bucker...LOL (smart@ss...LMFAO!). I like the traditional Tele look.

I remember that one. That was a sharp lookin' Tele.

Umm, I'll take the "not that crazy" lightly. LOL. I sometimes wonder.

I own 2, so of course for the better. I can honestly say that despite the episodes of GAS I may get for other guitars, I always go home to my teles. Anymore, my strats and LP are like step children. LOL.

This is the red MOP on black Mike is talking about… she’s with me now.

edit: sorry the picture is so washed...

That's sweet! I want a tele so bad, but I'm going to wait until the custom shop Barden style pickups will be available.

And there is nothing wrong w/ a bucker loaded tele w/ a Floyd..

I've played that guitar. John is a good friend and he plays in a band with me. You will like it quite a bit. Good luck with it!!

MikeS: That's the one. How does that mini-bucker sound? I love my LP but I'm a Strat guy at heart so I'm that way with them like you are with Tele's. I'm hoping I get as comfortable with it as I am my Strats.

Brent: Thanks. The only Tele's that should have buckers and a floyd are Kramers. Not Fenders. You gonna go for a MIA?

Bludave: Thanks for the comforting words. You're the 4th person who's said that, or something a long those lines, about it. Mike, John and Cris being the other 3.

Terry: Thanks, bro. Where's the clubhouse?

Jeff: Yeah, I know the drill. Clips *will* be made. Not sure what style but they will be made.

Rid: Thanks, man. It's the exact Tele I wanted too. I was originally going to get a 2006 MIM in black (maple board is the only option with them this year) but then this one fell on my lap. No way I could pass it up.

I suggest the fast chugga chugga part of "Streets Cry Freedom" from the first Badlands album...very appropriate Tele material

The mini-bucker hasn’t grown on me like the hot rails has. However, to be fair I don’t use it nearly as often as I do the bridge pickup. The guitar is so fast that every time I plug in I get the urge to crank the gain… and the mini-bucker doesn’t like that as much as the HR does. It’s not a bad pickup, but to be honest with you whenever I’m looking for a bell-like clean tone from a neck pickup I don’t reach for that guitar, so I don’t know that I’ve given the mini-bucker a fair shake. That’s the price I pay for having too many guitars in the stable. So, sorry I can't really answer your question in depth. I can say that I seem to prefer a traditional tele neck pickup over the mini-bucker, but it is cool to have a little variety.
