Default back from london geetar show

sooo.. been @ the london guitar show over the weekend, met with Ben (TO) and a couple of cool peeps off the bareknuckle forums.

snapped a couple of pics of the feline guitars. pics dont do them justice, they look AMAZING in person!!

LP clone (obviously) set-through heel, stellar neck. fitted with a set of BKP Mules w/ AL3 magnets. very nice full, saturated tone.

semihollow telegib. cant remember what the pups are, but looks classy as hell!

tele with a strat neck & pup config. plays like a dream. hard ash body. pups i think were irish tours (dont hold me on it)

    gas building up yet?

this one was the show stopper. perfect axe for metal.

solid flamed maple body (best grain i have EVER seen) nice chunky neck, rosewood FB (would prefer a maple one!) reverse BC Rich headstock, BKP Miracle man (bridge) and Trilogy (neck)
on this axe, the harmonics fly out like bats on speed(tm Zerberus)!! its INSANELY focused with a lower midgange grunt you could cut down a whole forest! played it through a GH50L full stack, jcm800ZW half stack and jcm800 1/4stack. insane sound, totaly balls to the wall metal. the trilogy in the neck has some of the most amazing lead tones i ever heard. i dont think i can play a humbucker in the neck again .. unless its a riff raff. that is just jaw dropping. 1000 times better in person (ben can wouch for it)

spalted maple dean V and explorer.. or whatever the name is.. you all probably saw it a million times by now

part of the bareknuckle stand. the left two are from a guy from denmark (http://www.libriumguitars.dk/) insane axes. you can and WILL hurt yourself on one if you arent careful. and he's a realy cool guy.

this one took the icing off the cake though. you cant get cooler than this (well, you CAN, but those plans are between donovan and me :fing25: )

    it's a V ukulele!!!!!!!!!!!

ben rockin out on matamp amps w/ a nailbomb/??/riff raff equiped ibanez.
now, a couple of words about those amps. they will give any marshall, diezel, peavey, what-bloody-ever not only a run for their money, but blow it out of the water. the GT1 and LX ones particlulary. the gt1 being a slightly lower gain amp, aimed at cranked plexi/van halen-esque/NWOBHM tones, with quite some reserves. the LX is balls out heavy fukkin metal right down to the last component! the guys from matamp are totaly cool people too. esp one of the designers, way cool guy.

HA! caught in the act! traitor

me busting out some schenker moves with an all korina Vee (which sounds TOTALY SWEET!)

saviour this moment guys, while its not as good quality pic, its one of the few you'll see me play an ibanez! neck through, giger graphic, warpig bridge and cold sweat neck, tuned in D, it WILL ripp your head clean off your shoulders!
though, the neck - while chunky - due to the finish it felt like plastic, so it would improve a whole lot if you striped it down to the wood. mighty nice guitar. black MOP lightning inlays and the same stuff used as binding.

ben going nuts over the LP hehe.

    me & ben.
(these two are from jonathan@feline guitars. he's got some hilarious ones)

the pickup i got yesterday (OMG, destroyed and i even paid for it!! )

so, all in all, it was definately worth the trip. highlights of the show was talkin with the matamp designer about amps and BLASTING the gunslinger through a laney full stack.
i saw bruce d!ckinson at the show, but couldnt find him to have a pic taken.. also steve haris' bass tech.
saturday night was a blast too. damn i wish it wasnt over yet!!
ben is an incredibly cool guy!

i wanna go again!! i got to play a sh!tload of guitars (and must say the gibsons i played were terribly unimpressive. the new prs se ones are a joke.. they look nice but meh.. they suck! though i might be a bit biased cos i played them back to back with handmade customs)
amps, amps... marshalls are kinda ok.. matamps RULE, the cheap laneys SUCK, the big laneys are totaly sweet. the ibanez PGM301 is a realy nice guitar, while it feels a bit cheap cos its pretty lightweight, its got an incredibly nice neck.

oh and i got these strings also!

    soo, this is about it.
    was WAY fun!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun.

There is a show in a few weeks in Philly but I don't know if I'm going yet. Last year was a little disappointing. High prices and ******bag sellers seemed to be the theme.

Gibson was there with their trailer full of guitars that you could play, which was fun. Short of that, I came home disappointed.

Looks like you had a great time Davey.

I want a set of AIV Mules for my Gibby LP

I've also been looking at Matamps for a while now too. Gonna have to have a drive up to the factory and try them out I think

I wouldn't be, after playing several PRSs at GC I went back and played my H207 (which I had there) and was like "aaaah perfect neck" so don't feel bad, if the real PRS felt like crap compared to my H207 the SEs must be god-awful.

This is fully my opinion because A) I dislike PRS's heel, B) the neck doesn't feel good, C) The rotary switch is idiotic, D) did I mention how the neck and heel sucked?, E) all of the above?

    lol

Besides the drudgery that was just stated...

Dude that looks like you guys had a blast and oh man I wouldn't mind playing that V.

Yeah, those old late '80's / early '90's RG's rule . Mine is similar to that one, including the matching headstock (they quit offering matching headstocks somewhere halfway through the '90's). I don't really like shredders anymore and only rarely touch my DK2 (it's for sale, actually) but the Ibanez is a rare exception. I love the neck on that old RG550 of mine. The edges are a bit rounded off, which feels great. New RG's lack this feel (even de Prestiges). Also, I love the high gloss finished neck, I favour it above the satin oil necks on the current RG's and my DK2.

Nice pics Davey. I also failed to realise this event was on - I only live about 60 miles from London.
