Default First recording of song check it out

This is my band's first recording. Recorded through a Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser mic into the Audacity program. We're playing together and the mic was centered between all of us. Not a bad sound, pretty raw recording. And the bass is cut 10 seconds off at the end. But over all for a first recording of a song, I thought it sounded good.

Hope you guys listen to it, and give me some feed back. Thanks.

Actually not too bad of a recording. The guitar and drums come through pretty good. The vocals a pretty much lost. There was some distortion towards the end - not sure what that was.

    Overall - good job.

Your soundcard input should be stereo... You might try running a second mic and getting more of the vocals with that - will require some experimenting to get the placement right.

You might also consider getting a small mixer (I've been looking at the Yamaha mix.120 for $99)

I'm actually surprised how well your drums sounded - I'm planning a multitrack approach with at least 4 mics - and now thinking I'm wasting effort.

Thanks I appreciate it. We aren't actually running any sort of mixer. The mic is directly plugged into the sound card. I'll try a second mic to pick up the vocals, or perhaps recording the vocals on a seperate track to the computer. Thanks again.

Here is our other song titled: Hitchhiking Blues. This was our second recorded trial song to see how it sounded. I tried modifying it so it didn't sound like crap. It's a little better but not much. Our Bassist wasn't there when we recorded it so I turned my bass setting halfway up to give the same effect off. The mic was centered between the room again, so here's the recording. Really raw, but you get the picture. Thanks for listening to our sh*t.

*bump* Can I get a little more feedback, please. should I keep on doing what I am doing, or change our music style all together, my band is thinking this, not me?

I'll listen to the song in just a minute (on phone), but I'm interested - very interested - in this exact mic. What are your opinions on it so far? I like the direct to USB system, very appealing.
