Default Pickup config suggestions(Classic Stack Plus, SSL1, etc)

    Hey guys,

I just purchased a couple of Classic Stack Pluses and I'm debating what to do with them. Right now I have 2 SSL-1s and a Air zone in my strat(used to be a lil59). The stacks are both normarl polarity, one of the SSL-1s is RWRP. I'm thinking the best solution would be to put one of the stacks in the neck and leave the SSL-1 RWRP in the middle. I'd have a coil split for the stack so I could get two sounds out of the neck and get a reasonably good notch position between the neck and middle.

Does this seem like a good plan? What's the best way to wire this up? Should I use a toggle for the coil split, or is there a more elegant solution?

    Thanks!

    Mike

p.s. Whatever I do, I'll have a couple of single coil pups and a lil59 for sale...

your plan sounds pretty good ... a full matched set of classic stack plusses would be cleaner ... but you can still retain humcancelling in most slots (just not the ssl by iteself) ...

toggle works well for splitting if you'd rather not use a push / pull ... you can get a DPDT on/off minitoggle that would split both the neck and bridge

are you gonna put the other classic stack in the bridge with a split too?

I'm going to leave the air zone in the bridge for now. Neither of the stack +s are RWRP, so that is what led me to thinking about leaving the SSL-1 in the middle. I'm a sucker for the notch tone between the neck and middle too, so if I can split the stack and combine it with the RWRP, I'll still have that sound in tact.
