Default Question for pod xt owners???

For those of you that own a line 6 pod xt "kidney bean" unit - i would like to know if you've ever used it solely for the "effects" only with the amp modeling "turned off" ??? ...in this manner, does it sound transparent with absolutely no coloration of the amps tone??? thanks!!!

I've done it - it's as transparent as your amps loop. My 5150 loves it, my Recto hated it, but the Recto hates all effects, so I'd chalk it up to that.

ive heard of people using the xtl for effects only a lot. i think it actually has an amp bypass feature so you can use the only the effects.

ok,guys-good to hear.i own the original pod pro rackmount unit & love the effects on it.basically,i just use the delay & noise gate, maybe some chorus here & there.the pod xt does have an amp-modeling shut-off function available in the "edit" section per the tech guys at line 6,so i figured i can use the unit for effects & noisegate only in the effects loop of my high gain tube head without coloring the amps natural tone at all, hopefully!!!

At the last AES show I asked the guys at the Line 6 booth if there were any plans to re-release the rackmount modelers & they said nope, the new POD's can bypass the 'amp' stuff & be used as straight up FX boxes.

Having said that, are you thinking about selling your rackmount Pod Pro for 'bean' deal? If you are I might be interested...

If you love the old Pro's effects, you will go nuts for the XT's. The reverb alone is a major improvement.

    Amp models are better too.
