Wink Marshall 5210 - Bluesy Improv. Video!

Here's a video to all my friends out there who wanted to hear what my uncle's Marshall 5210 sounds like.

All controls except for master volume on amp cranked. Guitar used was my uncle's ultra-cheap J&D Strat copy.

    Enjoy!

Great stuff!!! I used to have a 5210, something must have been wrong with mine, it didn't sound that good

Okay, maybe it was a talent level thing I'm sure.

The clip titled guitar, the 5 minute one is my favorite. Very nice playing dude!!!

The key to make a 5210 sound good (or atleast my uncle's) is to use the individual channel (clean\boost) volumes as tone controls, not volume controls.

I put the volume on the gain channel to around 6.5\10. Any lower and it gets clearer\crunchier and brighter, higher and it gets mushier\smoother\fatter.

It also has a 20 year old Fane Studio 12" speaker in it, with a huge magnet, which i believe adds alot to the tonal quality of the amp.

Now, if i only could find a used 5210 for sale here in norway, i'd be all over it. Unfortunately, my uncle is bringing the 5210 i used on the video home to his new house, and i'll be without an amp .

Anyway, glad you liked the clip!

    Pull up your damn pants!!!

    Ha ha

Excellent work Erlend! The amp/git combo sounds great - does your uncle ever get any of his stuff back? Me thinks after hearing you play his stuff he's probably looking for another hobby.....

Well, as a matter of fact my uncle is gonna get his guitar and amp back pretty soon, since he found himself a band. I've been borrowing the amp for...what...four years now, so its kinda sad to see it go. I'm gonna get a Line6 Pod XT Live and a Vox 2x12" cab, and use my old Peavey Centurion head (1978 model) as a guitar rig instead.

And oh... my uncle kicks my ass both musically and technically any time

I was messing around with it earlier today... still not getting a great sound from it I don't think. The best I ever did with it was rolling the gain and treble way back and then boosting it with my os-2. Would you mind posting your settings? Doesn't have to be exact of course, just so I have an idea of how to get it into the same ballpark.
