    Default Wilkenson Locking Tuners

    Has anybody tried these? linky

It looks like a foolproof design - kind of simple - but it seems like it should work... and the price is good.

That looks simple yet very effective....I like it.

It would probably alter the tone of a vintage sounding instrument, though, if that's what someone was going for.

I like Wilkinson products, and don't really care for the vintage style tuners on LPs. However, I'd be likely to try the TonePros Kluson style tuners first on my R7 because of the cosmetics.

Tonepros makes tuners? I didn't see any on their web site.

They're definitely cheap enough, but the Gotoh locking mechanism is smarter and easier IMO. All you have to do is pull the string through and start tuning. I've seen some guys mod regular tuners for the second pass through. They said it worked well, but I never saw or tried it first hand.

I'm trying out a set on my latest project. They work great. They arn't as heavy overall as most locking tuners, so they seem to have a minimal tonal impact by comparison.
