I just never understand people who buy guitars with the intention of selling them later. It's a guitar! Put your wallet down and play it!
A good guitar "must" hold its value. That's what i meant really... Believe me, I want to buy my guitars with the intention of living with them... As Scott said, other instruments will be a better way to spend your money...

Your post makes no sense, and doesn't really answer my question. Sorry.

People care so much about a guitar holding it's value, because "good" guitars hold their value!! hope that clears things up

The reality is that i"m a gear ho. There are very few guitars that actually stay around more than a year. I get them, play the snot out of them, then sell off the ones that aren't still doing it for me.

Gearjoneser has said it this way, buy used and play for free. Buy a used one, if you keep it, great. If you decide not to and you can get out what you put into it, you played it for a time, rent-free.

It's a sickness, I know. The only guitars that have proven to be keepers for me are my two reissue Les pauls and ... so far... the EJ Strat. I'm about to get rid of that mexican tele with the warmoth neck (blue agave with the black pearloid nashville guard and the 5-2's in it)

In the 80's, people thought Les Pauls were crap until Slash came along and resurrected them. Same with Jazzmasters and Jaguars until the grunge/indie scene broke out. I think the Ibanez RG isn't worth its weight in dung, but I'm sure a lot of people would disagree. One person's good guitar is another person's piece of junk. They're worth as much as you value them, not what you can get for them on eBay.

That's just my view, of course.

bro, i think you are investing WAY too much into clips. You realize it will probably sound WAY different when you get it? Have you played one of these before?

While clips can be deceiving, a good return policy is a must for those of us that live in small towns with virtually no music store options.

The good news for Cream is that Eastwood has a return policy where you just pay for the shipping. That is pretty reasonable. The reviews for those Airlines are all pretty good. For 700-800 bucks, I expect a decent product. It appears from what I've read, the Airlines are just that.

For my personal tastes, I'm leaning more towards a Ric 360.

exactly, the nearest music store that carries this model is 3 hours away!
i did actually check the return policy because, contrary to popular belief, i'm not a complete idiot .

It seems to me if you want one of those guitars (Airline for example), you'd be better off buying an original Airline. The prices seem way too high for a reissue. The pickups aren't always accurate either, so they won't sound the same.
Gibson LP Melody Maker -- stock, Epiphone Dot -- Jazz neck and '59 bridge, Fender Telecaster Blackout Deluxe -- stock, 90's MIM Standard Strat with Duncan Texas Hot Custom in the bridge.

I don't like the original enough to drop 2000 on one. In fact, I don't lke the cop enough to drop 700 on.

But I do like the Rick 360 enough to drop 1100 on. I got to jonesing for an odd guitar. The more I thought about it, Ricks are pretty odd to me.

i'm not going for the "original" sound, i just want a cool sound and looks so awsemo. besides i wouldn't pay 2000 $ on an "original" airline anyway. if i want to sound like airline i'd just get an italia mondial and put in some of eastwood p'ups and see if it sounded close. it probably would and it would'nt cost me enough to have to get a mortgage to boot

I dont care what anyone says about comparing the clips. Those Delta-6 through the marshall ones are just downright SEXY.

Leone is a great player (the clips guy). That's the power of clips. People ask me all the time why I don't make some clips myself. Well basically if you are not a AAAAA player, your mistakes draw more attention than the amps tone. That's why I have guys like Stevo and Stratman making clips for me.

Uh, Stratman, I need some hard driving Edana clips to go with the sweet syrupy ones you already gave me.... puh-leeeze!

for what it's worth, I've purchased through the owner, Mike, before. He's a really nice/friendly guy. I got a EKO les paul copy a few years back, and he threw in a really nice leather case for it for free. Then he put a link of my band up on his site, which I thought was cool. I ended up selling the axe (because the neck was heavier than the body, causing it to slide toward the ground headstock-first when strapped on), but nonetheless I'd buy from him again.

Where does the number $2000 come from? Most of the Airlines I've seen go for $600-$800.

not an airline but it's an example of the same thing that happens over and over again: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=7403949656
