    Default New zoom MFX

Damn, I was listening to this guy's clip at TheStompBox.Net ZOOM forum.

He recorded them with a ZOOM G7.1ut unit.

Pretty impressive. This unit has one 12ax7 tube like the Vox tonelab.

    The clips:

    Clean and lower gain:

    Higher gain:

Pretty solid for Zoom, which I always considered way behing Vox/Boss/Line 6/Digitech. This unit is cheaper too. Maybe the guy's the king of tweaking.

    What do you think?

I didn't listen to the clip, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say....

It probably sounds pretty cool.... at first. After awhile, it will start sounding worse and worse. Oh yeah, it's probably not rugged enough to leave the house, either.
Buy the book in my avatar. It's pretty cool.

Yeah, I don't know. I generally stay pretty far from these mnodellers, but this clip seems cooler than most I generally hear.

Zoom stuff in particular has a tendency to do what I described. They're cool for very extreme sounds (tons of gain, sterile cleans, tons of effects, etc) but VERY bad for any in-between stuff.

You forgot . . . VERY UNRELIABLE / LIKELY TO DIE ON YOU IF YOU EVER REALLY NEED IT. At least that has been my experience, and the experience of my friends . . .
