    Default 1985 Kramer

new from Kramer is the 1985 rosewood fingerboard Baretta..... www.kramerguitars.com

Man when i was a kid i sat and stared at the 1984/5 era ads of EVH holding a white Baretta with a rosewoodboard and all black hardware.... i still want that guitar! But buying one from the USA is just too expensive for this guy in Canada.... and the older ones are going for insane prices....

I cant find specs but, is it made to the same specs as the original 85 Baretta? Does it have the solid maple body?

Maybe 9finger will chime in and learn us something????

On musicyo those 1984 Kramers were like $500-600 for a while. They're up near $850 now. They don't deserve to be that expensive yet. Plus they forgot something on it.

Hmm I think that I will contact my local luthier for a maple body and mapleneck with a maplecap
Then I will get one with a "beak" head instead of the banana one, got the Floyd and pickups, maybe buy a JB or a EVH?

Guys from what I understand, these are supposed to be exact replicas of the ''85" rettas. If I'm not mistaken they used Mike Wolvertons 85 to prototype this one.

It's nice to see Kramer coming back on the radar a bit nowadays, even if they are owned by Gibson. I think the stupid anti-anything-80s mentality is starting to wear off, hopefully it'll mean even more choice in the way of superstrat style guitars for consumers.

Since Gibson owns them...You know what that means. If they get popular, they will get expensive!!!

Valid point. The 1984 RI's have already climbed in price.

Gibson owning them really doesn't have anything to do w/ the reissue prices going up. The reason they are going up is because the "84" "JS" and any other reissue that will be made are now made completely made in the U.S.A. where as prior, the parts were made somewhere else and assembled in the U.S. in true old skool Kramer fashion.

So now that they are completely made in the U.S., the cost of production is obviously going to go up. Very seldom will you see me defend Gibson or Music Yo. But I've read on good word that the guys from Yo have a very limited budget and work REALLY hard to get these things out w/out a whole lot of support from Gibson. Which is really commendable condsidering what they have to go up against when you have already established companies like Jackson, ESP, and Ibanez raining down the new era of shred guitars. Where as you've got the a very small group of new guys from Music Yo trying to ressurect a dead brand from the ashes.

I think they should come up w/ a "phoenix" model shred guitar and make it their poster model, but that's just me.

I'm excited about the 85 model... it looks exactly like the white Baretta EVH is holding in some ads from 1984/85.... I dreamed about that guitar for years, might not be the best guitar ever made but it was the one i wanted so bad as a youth.... It says on the Kramer site that Dealer info is coming soon.... I wonder if the day will come if you could ever get these from a real store and not having to buy over the net.....?

Thanks for the tip.... i've seen those before. The 85 reissued Kramer has all the exact details i wanted in a Baretta.... The Rosewood board, the angled pickup and the black hardware. I just hope it comes in White

Yeah, I'd love one of those Kramers. Any guess on what they'll cost?

I have no idea really.... but the new Guitar Buyers mag gives it's List price as a Fortune..... around $1800 list ---But the mag also lists the 1984 up there too and we know thru MusicYo they sell for much less.... Time will tell what the real street price will be...

Sad part is with exchange and duty it will most likely be way too much for me in Canada.... One of the reasons i never bought 1984 was by the time it gets here it is Hundreds and hundreds more for me in Canadian money... But with the 1985 i may have to.... One of the reasons i hope there is a Canadian dealer for new Kramers is the fact there would be no duty charge... Right now the exchange rate is great for me to buy American goods.... but the Duty still kills me...

PS the Kramer site has a List Price sheet.... it lists the 85 being much more expensive then the 84....

The body and headstock shapes are slightly different between the 84 and 85.... i thought the 84 was great, but now seeing the 85 right beside it it is that much closer to the white one in the 1984 era Kramer ads that Eddie was holding... Back in 1987 when i bought my first Kramer-(POS Striker) there was no way in the world i could afford the $1000 for a real Baretta..... It's amazing how expensive they were back in the day.... By the time i could afford to buy a Baretta the Kramer company was no more....

plus in all the years i have been searching for deals in Toronto and southern Ontario area used guitar shops i have only seen one 1985 Baretta for sale..... at the time 10 years ago it was $350..... The only reason i never bought it was because it was red and i wanted White so i held off buying it.... wish i had

Also i can't see why the Jersey Star with it's 3 humbuckers and Gold hardware is a $100 cheaper then the list price on the 85!!!
