On the head stock of some Strats you see a stencil that reads, "Original Contour Body" and some Strats don't have this.
What gives? Why on some and not others?

This decal was standard on strats until the 70's, when CBS dropped it. Later after Fender was no longer owned by CBS, it was reinstated on most but not all strats. Some modern strats such as the artists strats ofton have an autograph there.

Yup, also it adds to some of the reissues authenticity.

there have been changes in the body contours over the time.
One example is the american series that did`nt get the original body contour until 2001-02 i think. that`s the reason why som fenders don`t have the
decal.
