Neck Advice

Let's hear it from the pros... how much work would this neck entail?

As you can see, it's been stripped of its finish (cept for the useful date at the ass end) missing binding, has overspray and crappy scrapings on the board... then again I don't want something perfect. Figure I could even leave it unfinished (except for the stock, which needs to be matching

My big questions are about the binding... figure I could buy it from stewmac, but would it be easy for someone less than a professional (me) to **** this up easily? It would seem to be easy enough except when I factor in that it would need to be radiused at the butt end along with the neck, and then I'd need to put the dots back into the binding

Say this goes for a decent price, would I be in over my head to buy it and not expect the above mentioned job to have to be farmed out expensively? (****, don't even like binding but I can't pass up a good deal

Doing the binding on it wouldnt be all that bad (assuming the channels are clean) but, I have not looked at the neck up close. Get some binding, binding cement, a scraper, and some binding tape and get it done. If you need more help, just yell.

The rebates look clean so it shouldn't be a problem. As the neck is screwed as far as originality is concerned, i'd be inclined to do something creative like fit it out with maple binding instead of plastic then give it an oil finish.

I realise that with some this would get me crucified for sacrilege but I don't care, plastic binding sucks...

I don't like binding at all actually, maybe rosewood binding then thanks for the advice guys... abalone actually sounds cool if I have to go with binding.

by the way how much trouble will it to be to get the dots in it (the ones on the side?)
