    Smile Superstrap Pickup Help

    Hi all

After success with my first build earlier this year I'm building the guitar I always wanted to build.

It's gonna be a Fender Tele with folyd rose trem and hss pickups with an Ibanez style humbucker, Tele style middle pup and Strat style neck pup. Few questions though...

I've got another tele and want to get that classic bridge tele sound from the middle pickup. Will a tele bridge pup work ok for that or will the effect be lost as the strings aren't as tense that far away from the bridge?

I'm looking for a classic clean strat pup and not sure which is best to go for.

And finally, the Ibanez humbucker. I want this to scream (though I don't want actrive) and be uberresponsive (think lots of hammer-ons, Van Halen style).

To top it off, all this pickups need to fit into the Tele body I'm getting. I may end up getting SDs or another make (depending on the advice I get) or maybe even go for official Fender pups. However, will there be problems with spacings? ie will a fender strat pup fit into a tele ok? I have my doubts...

Any advice on any of this would be greatlly appreciated.

    Cheers
    James

a tele pup in the middle wont sound the same as it will in the bridge. location location location

for a classic strat clean look into the duncan ssl1. its spanky and bright, perfect for the neck position. itll give you the great strat tone people lust after.

im not sure what you mean by an ibanez style bucker. hot and muddy? just kidding. for a good van halen tone try a custom custom

the strat pup will fit, but youll have to modify the pickguard

Get a Blues Saraceno Trembucker, it wails...it screams, it is warm and it will do VH very, very, very well although it tends to be fatter than you think of classic VH...which I really like since it is not a limited appeal P/U. For classic VH I have found that a '59/Custom Hybrid is perfect...but I have never used a '78.

There is only one good Ibanez humbucker, the Super 70...which will nail the hell out of VH as well.
