Default Cleaning the outside of a grill

I'm moving into a new apartment very soon, and the current residents are leaving me a propane grill (!!!! !!!). However, the outside of it is very dirty, and in some areas rusted.
Does anyone have any tips for cleaning it up, i.e. what agents and tools? I'd assume it's stainless steel. I'd like to make it shiny and new!

If it is in fact stainless steel, I know that I've seen a specific stainless steel cleaner in the grocery store. In the absence of that, I would use a paste made of baking soda and water. That should make something that's very slightly abrasive so that it will clean it but won't harm the surface. Good luck with it!

Thanks bro! It's great, because I was planning on having to build a desk and buy all kinds of stuff, and the residents (friends of mine, but we don't really hang out) are leaving me a nice desk, that grill, and ALL of their cookingware and silverware and such! It's so sweeeet.

That is sweet. Most times, you go with your own stuff and fill in the rest of the space as best you can. You're getting the space and extra stuff thrown in. What a deal.
