I think a better name for them would be "fallswitch inflames"

The new All That Remains album is awesome, the lyrics are great and the guitars are absolutely amazing. They'res more to metal than just iron maiden, judas priest and metallica and then people who don't think they are metal think these black/death metal bands are the only good stuff in metal what do people find so bad about these new metal bands coming around (ie-killswitch engage, shadows fall, all that remains)
Pubes... wow. Just... no.
But yeah, I've heard it - sounds identical to the last album, just another Killswitch/In Flames/At The Gates/Shadows Fall ripoff band.
Zero - What I find so bad about them is that they all sound the same, most of the guitarists pretty much suck, the vocalists aren't that good, and it's just rehashed, cookiecutter metalcore.
I mean... come on. The guitarist from Shadows Fall rips off his own solos.

Almost everyone does that at one point in there "guitar career". dude youve had to have done it once or twice, even slayers done it.Originally Posted by Jeff Dunne

But whatever man. I think All that remains matured more and i dont think it sounds the same as the previous album. Even if it does ill still like it cause i enjoyed the previous one. So o well to each his own i guess

Well then recommend me some good bands. Dont get me wrong I greatly enjoy metal, but lately ive been finding myself steering away from it more and more. It just seems that everything is so generic these days.
EDIT - I guess im refering only to bands youd see regularly on headbangers ball (not that ive ever seen it, solely based on what I think I know). IMO there are still good metal bands which have come out in recent years e.g. Necrophagist, Between The Buried And Me.

Sighting Slayer as a defense for criticism of lead playing is just... Sorry, but Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman can't play lead guitar to save their lives. Awesome songwriters, insane rhythm guitarists... horrid lead players.
The only time I've reused solo's is if I had a song retired, but especialy liked the lead out of it.

Jeff, where the hell is Ensiferum? I can't find it...

For that genre, I really feel that Kalmah and Wintersun have it dominated. Wintersun is just a better Ensiferum, IMO, and same with Kalmah to CoB.

Wintersun strayed from the melodies which made Ensiferum so damn cool... that's my take anyway.

Pubes - I have to say, I can't stand Pig Destroyer, and if you like them a lot, then I know why you don't like most modern metal.
