Very ethereal. A little 'smashing pumpkins' and a little 'joe satriani' as far as tones and overall feel of the song. The heavier parts are a bit jarring, as if they don't quite fit. They seem to interrupt the groove of the rest of the song.

I've gotten a couple comments about some of the sounds not "fitting" together, but to me that's part of the point of why certain sounds were chosen, certain parts given more reverb, others less or even none -- some of it is supposed to have that sad, dank, lonely feel, etc. Essentially the parts with less reverb, like some of the clean tones were meant to be more in your face, then it takes a step back, and then back in your face with the dry heavy sound. Each tone has sort of an emotional connotation to it. I suppose it sounds right to me but clearly not for everyone. I'll have to listen to it for a few days and see how it sits...
