That sounds similar to my 5150 but better. I guess it just sits well in the mix? Good tone.

    Thanks guys!

Haven't touched the impulses at all, and I have no desire to. Ever notice how they have to do copious amounts of EQ and limiting, and even using sound-shaping programs, just to get the sound of a mic'd cab? Not worth it to me, and it still sounds direct .

That said, I think this tone has way too much sizzle in the top end - I need to filter off a bit lower. I think it's the cabinet giving me the fizz . I have another 57 comming any day now, though, and the Fredman method should smoothen things out.

It sounded tighter than your previous guitar tones, I like this one a lot more...but you already knew I'd like this better That being said, I think the 'clean' tone could use some more tone knob...I dunno, lol

Sounds good, though...I need to get a decent recording setup but that's a long ways off.

Killer tone...Way tighter than I ever thought a seven string could be.
    Drums are impressive.
DFHS is definately on the 'to buy' list.

Does that run on your mac?
or did you have to dual boot with windows?

Listening back at work on my PX-100's (I've logged over 200-300 hours of listening on these things - they're like second nature to me), and it doesn't have as much fuzz as I was hearing yesterday. I'd still like to filter a bit more - right now I've got an LPF set at about 13.5Khz, I think I'll lower it down to about 12Khz or so. It makes sense, though, and reminds me of this quote...

I'm also going to set up a better mastering chain - right now I'm just running a C4 Multiband Compressor and L2 Limiter on things, but I think it could use a bit of Ozone, maybe even some BBE.

The 5150 isn't a very tight amp in itself... the low end is fairly loose, but the mid grind makes it all worth it. The 707's help a ton, too - tightest pickup I've played. It'd be nice to having something with a more solid low end to layer it with (Recto specifically), but for right now I'm really impressed with how good this is sounding! I can't wait to get my reamp box in next week and start with that.

All the programs I used will run fine on a PowerPC... none of them run on an Intel, so yes, I dual boot for 100% of my recording.

Eventually, that'll change... but it'll involve shelling out a good 500-600 for Cubase SX4, and 2 grand for the Waves plugins (no doubt it'll be a while before they're cracked for Intel's, and Cubase SX2 hasn't even been cracked for PPC's), which I'm just not willing to do, really.

I plan on picking up a G5 PowerMac at around X-mas time, as the prices will plummet after the MacPro's are released. Hell, I might even get a really high end G4 - those are cheap as is.

I'll run Digital Performer on that and basically use it as a main station, with the MacBook as a mobile rig and misc. stuff on the side.

That said, the stability of the Mac is still apparent even when XP is running - it's insanely reliable, no pops, clicks, scratches, anything. The only thing I need to do, and I'm snagging em this weeken, is pick up a fullsize keyboard so I can use all my shortcuts more effectively, and the adapter to plug in a 2nd monitor. I had to reset the record hotkey to F6, which is very unnatural feeling. Hell, the laptop keyboard itself feels pretty unnatural for recording and editing, period!

Wicked tone Jeff, I think its a huge improvement. Riff sounds very Meshuggah inspired?

Yea, im not sure how you are with your tones jeff, but just use something that YOU like. The guys on the sneap forums all sound the same

Haha yeah, most of the guys on the Sneap forum just contribute to the saliva dripping from his ass...

That said, that man knows what he's talking about, and when I hear things like... 12K fizz on a Marshall style cabinet . I tend to go back to his advice.

That said, there's one guy on his forum, Brett from the band KALISIA. I got the songs from him for the upcoming ToMera album - ******n that man has talent, and with only a few resources! No super expensive mic pre's, just RME's... SM57's on toms, very few samples, simple setups... gotta talk to him more often. Most killer, tight tone out of a Mesa Oversized cab.

ToMera is an amazing band, as well. It's like a better mix of Dream Theater and Nightwish.

Most of them yes, but that's cuz they're all going for a similar sound with similar amps. Then you have guys like cjwall- he had about the best heavy guitar tone I've ever heard.
