As we both kept advancing til the final round, I knew I had to do something drastic so I smashed my guitar to bits. I won...

I sorta agree. The times where I've improved most its been for pressure. Eg, I had trouble learning songs. Suddenly I was due to go on stage in about a month for rhythm guitar with my teachers. BAM. All of those songs I had down pat.

My first performance ever, I was playing for my class for a project, I learnt the song about a week before. And someone recorded it.. I actually did pretty good at it. Only one real mistake. It was over the Hills and Far Away by Zeppelin, but instrumental.

Pressure kinda forces you to git r done.

To some players a guitar is just a tool and destroying it isn't a bad thing because it is just part of the act. But to a lot of players a guitar is an object of desire and the thought of destroying it is sacrilege. The guitar should be loved and that somehow it returns the favor like some sort of talisman.

I've never heard of him smash one since.

I think it was just that at that moment there was so much pressure that he just needed to without a doubt destroy his opponent. Seeing as most non-guitar crowds are for coolness > technicality he went for the coolest trick in his bag.

Though. Id never smash one of my lovers.

+1. Marty's not the guitar destroying type. But when the bonehead licks are beating all your good stuff, what else you gonna do?

I find I can play the most soulful licks, or just neat ones that really fit, but I usually get owned by the idiot playing the solo from green day's holiday, or some my chemical romance song, just because everyones like "Omfg that song is sooo good, HE CAN PLAY THE SOLO HES LIKE.. A GOD"

Yeah. From now on, the judges are to be a panel of people with real taste in music not a bunch of 14 year old scene girls..

YEah dude. I can't stand when some guy decides smashing a few guitars worth thousands of dollars, or possibly priceless guitars, for some cheap thrills while many of us whish we had just one of those sweet axes, is a good idea.

guitars are like people. i swear that while i was building my second guitar my first started playing better.

My guitar was like trying to "choose me! you don't need some stupid new guitar." and they often get jealous of each other.....

I never knew guitars had that emotion........

    Who knew?!
