    Default Terrible recorded guitar tone

Yesterday I bought a cheap $100 Tascam recorder. I plug my marshall, which has an emulator DI output, into the recorder. My tone is similar to those terrible trebely recordings found on youtube. How can I improve my tone?

I have a side question too. When I put my tape into a tape player it sounds out of tune.

Use a speaker and a microphone.

I hear of people using POD's for their recordings, can I just plug one into the recorder?

Use the POD. Those cassette recorders usually run at a faster speed than a stereo consumer cassette player, that's most likely why you hear tunning issues.

Thanks, is there any way I can correct this tuning issue?

You'll have to take a line out of the Tascam cassette recorder and record it into your consumer deck. You won't be able to play the cassettes from the Tascam (if it runs faster) you're recording with on consumer machines.

If it's a Portastudio most likely it runs at twice the speed of a consumer deck so bounce down to a consumer deck if you want to play it in the car etc.
