Hi, a newby here...
I have a parts Tele with a P-90 in the neck. I'd like to get a HB that best represents a Fender 72 Telecaster Custom. I appreciate the help.

You actually might want to check out Rio Grande pickups, they have a 72 Tele Humbucker model

I like Jazz Neck in my HS tele.

PGn working wonderfully for me in my Tele.

AFAIK, nobody really makes a true copy of the Seth Lover designed *Full Range* humbucker used in the '72 Teles. Lindy Fralin might be the closest, but it is his take on that design. You migh want to contact MJ in the Custom Shop (if you're willing to spend the extra cash) and see if they make one for you.
Gibson LP Melody Maker -- stock, Epiphone Dot -- Jazz neck and '59 bridge, Fender Telecaster Blackout Deluxe -- stock, 90's MIM Standard Strat with Duncan Texas Hot Custom in the bridge.
Thank you guys for the help. I appreciate it.
Saladin, what's PGn?
Gripweed, I think you're right. That particular pup was kind of odd compared to a typical HB PAF style.
Seth Lover designed the 72 Custom pup. Every coil has 5000 turns of 42 gage wire. Resistance is about 10.6k. resistance is about 10.6k. The material for the magnets is something called "cunife," which stands for copper-nickel-ferrite. Cunife is supposed to get more trebles than Alnico 5, for instance.
I'm looking into the Rio Grande version so see what they used for magnets.

PGn, is the Pearly Gates Neck HB. I would recommend that as well, except I'm not sure if it'll do the '72 thing.
Thanks, man.
That's the one Seymour Duncan himself has in the picture of the "how to pick up a pickup" brochure. I'm sure it's a great pup, but I agree it won't work out for this particular situation.
The Rio Grande uses Alnico 5 and has a DC resistance of 14.4. I'm exploring the option of getting one custom made with the original design, except for the magnets. Probably Alnico 8 would work.

I had an original 72 Telecaster Deluxe for setup and i have to tell you I'm very picky about pups. I messed around with the pups for two week, different amps, different strings, fooled around with the caps and so on. I heavily frustrated about them, didnt get a decent tone out of it. Very clangy, not thight enough for distortion, too flat sounding in clean. In my personal telecaster i have an underwound PAF with alnico 2 and before a P90 in full Humbucker size (both made by the german winder company Rockinger). They both were great, but the P90 HB didn't match up volume wise with SD Broadcaster pup in the Bridge. I would go for a PGn or a Phat Cat in the neck.
BTW also Steven Kersting (sk guitar specialties) does CUNIFE pickups.
