No need to feel dumb. Most IQ test cover only a subset of intelligence. What really matters is how much you can bench.

I took a couple in elementary school. Did well enough.

Interestingly, I had to take a Wonderlic test (the same intelligence test they take at the NFL Combine) as part of the application process for my current job. Guess I did well enough there, too. I know I scored higher than Vince Young did.

I took it at a local school, just for fun I guess :6: I have always been curious about these tests which are so often talked about.

My test had several problems dealing with deductive reasoning, math and pattern recognition. If I would have taken it when I was younger, then I would have failed miserably Since I now have A.S. degrees in Math and Computer Science, and a Bachelor's degree in Business, it seemed fairly easy to get a high score. I didn't study.. just took it at random.

Not that I am very smart, but I do make a living dealig with logical systems.

148 in third grade. Went to a school for 4th grade devoted to "gifted" children. Hated it....we had class part of the day, and then the rest of the day was ours to study as we saw fit. Homework due at the end of the week, not daily. Result....we were freakin' kids. I failed miserably because I wanted to play soccer and chase little Jenny around the monkey bars.

Tested in college...145. Not much difference really. Learning things has always come easy to me, so I guess that's a bonus. I feel like there is nothing I can't do, given the chance. From running a business to flying a fighter plane...if given the opportunity I know I can do it better than 90% of the population...usually on the first try.

However, my math skills were always on the low side.

I scored a 167 in 10th grade, 4 or 5 years ago now. No I'm not lying. It was through the school.

This thread begs several questions:

1. What was the test?
2. Who adminstered it?
3. What are the stats associated with it? (mean, standard deviation, normative group, etc.).
4. How is it that 80% if the posters in this thread scored above the 99.9 percentile rank?

Paint me skeptical. Nothing personal, guys, but this is part of what I do for a living. Ah happens to knows a bit 'bout dis here subject.

Don't get me wrong; I find this to be a fairly intelligent group. But statistically speaking, the odds are astronomically against this many people actually functioning at that level.

BTW, I've admiinstered a variety of these tests on at least a couple of thousand occasions. My master's thesis was a comparison of two of these tests.

Also, if you knew enough about the particular test being adminstered to be able to "study" for it, it was an invalid test, and someone violated test security.
