Offical tests are timed, internet ones aren't. And almost everyone here claiming to take some fancy pants offical test actually just took an internet one.

yeah ive only done internet ones, but I've done 4 or so of them. 3 of them were timed, about 100 questions. One was just for kicks but still gave me 142.

I don't know...I guess it depends on what percentage of the population frequents this forum. Could be we have the top 15% of the top 1% posting here, right?

I won't go into all the test results I've had over the years... all those tests are flawed anyway. Besides that--who cares?

I took a timed test. I finished 40 questions in 8-9 minutes, and got 39 right. Hence the 167! I've taken (official) three tests. I took that one where I got the 167 in 10th grade. I took one from iq.com, which was timed, and I got a perfect score (the highest you can get - 170). I took a third, untimed one and got a 135, which was (for my age) the highest you could get. Stupid test.

I've also taken the Fox test twice! I got a perfect score once, and 79/80 once (I think there were 80 questions, regardless I got all but one right).

These questions are mostly just logic and common sense. "If you drive down the street, and the lights are on your right, if you turn around what side will they be on?"

But those tests I took were too easy. Getting a perfect score with easy questions is easy. I do not believe my IQ to be 167.

Your information on "official" tests is flawed. Portions of SOME tests are timed. This varies by test.

However, internet tests are significantly flawed, and in my experience, horribly inflated. I've taken a few, and posted a few here. Every single one scored me above the 99.8 percentile. Not likely.

FWIW, I have no "official" results. I took a group test in college, and it was probably a "fair" estimate. All other tests were inherently flawed due to my knowledge of tests and testing. I doubt seriously whether a valid score can be obtained on me.

But I stand by my statistical assertion that there will be icicles in Zerb's "workplace" before this many of you have legitimate scores that high.

1. What was the test?

I honestly do not know at this time, but I may have teh results fyling around in my file....

2. Who adminstered it?

USAF child psychiatrists

3. What are the stats associated with it? (mean, standard deviation, normative group, etc.).

Good question... makes for even more reason to look for the results...

4. How is it that 80% if the posters in this thread scored above the 99.9 percentile rank?

Now THAT is a very good question.... it is of course possible that we here are (as a group) above average in Intelligence, that would also explain why this place is a bit more laid back. Or of course there´s the possibility that some are ashamed of their scores, and therefore arent posting.

Or it may also be because IQ tests are quite often administered as part of a "troubleshooting" process, so as to diagnose reasons for things such as unruly classroom behavior... Something telly me that most of us were a slight "problem" when younger, and´quite a few of us likely ended up in similar programs to Jeff_H and myself...

Paint me skeptical. Nothing personal, guys, but this is part of what I do for a living. Ah happens to knows a bit 'bout dis here subject.

Generally speaking I agree 100%, it´s nigh impossible for all of us to be that bright. But I also see dozens of ways to skew that statistic off the top of my head, I certainly wouldn´t regard it as reliable

I was tested by the Australian Board of Education, and Mental Health. This was begining of the year. it was 142.
They had to do it twice because they couldnt belive the results.

Mine was the WISC-III administered by my high-school guidance office during my Sophomore year.

They found out I had multiple prersonalities.. the first got a 160 and the second got 16...
