    Artietoo, what is your "de-mud mod" for '59n?
    I have been looking for a few week now for such a thing and actually had several suggestions on the forum, but I would be quite happy to get some more.

    So far my possiblities are:
    * change the magnet to A4
    * change the caps

    What is your take? Suggestions from other members are welcome...

    The A2 swap is a fairly dramatic change in tone. The demud mod is very subtle. For a 4-wire pup, I do it like this:

    For a 2-wire (single cable), I do it like this:

    The change is so subtle, you may even want to add a switch that extends out from under the pickgaurd, like this:

    That way, you can flip the switch and hear the affect easily. Then, just cut the switch out of the circuit.

    You know . . . on second thought, the A2 swap might not be a bad idea. I just tried an AII Pro neck this weekend, and I like it a lot. Maybe even more than my demud mod of a 59. Just try whichever is easier.

    Thanks a lot Artietoo.

    I think I'll try your mod first as it is gonna be cheaper to begin with. And I quite like the sound of the '59. It is just a bit too bassy when I try to use neck and bridge pups alternatively in the same "song" or free run. So I just need to get the bass down a bit.

    I did the A4 thing two times to a DiMarzio PAF. Works great. About $7 for a magnet and 15 minutes labour. The A4 retains the highs of the A5, the A2 alters the mids and the highs and you get a softer overall sound.
