Default What SD is the equivalent of a EMG 85?

I have a 81 EMG in my LP and have a new LP. I really like the sound of the EMG 85 but son't want a active pup for this guitar, what SD would be similar? the custom custom?

Believe it or not, I would say the Duncan Custom.

I would've guessed the Custom 5, but the Custom is probably an accurate guess as well.

Duncan Distortion for the 81 IMO. It's the closest one that I've played to the 81 but I dont' know about the 85.

I don't want to make you "very mad!!" Humphrey, but he said he didn't want to go active.

I'd say C5, for its midrange. Might be a bit much though.

    Doesn't the C5 have a scooped midrange??

Having owned both the Custom and 85, I would say the Custom is closest of the Duncan line.

I thought the custom was less aggressive than the 85? Although not by much.

Hi guys and thanks when you say custom you mean the Custom Custom SH-11 or Duncan Custom SH-5? Kinda get confused with the custom this custom that. Also on output bar for the CC it's almost half of the Duncan Custom. I thought the CC was a hotter pup?
Also the Gibson BB Pros would they be hotter then the Custom what I got now?
    Thanks

when people say "custom" they usually mean sh-5 and when they say CC or Custom Custom they usually mean sh-11.

the emg85 has absolutely no similarities with the c5 as someone said. The CUSTOM SH-5 has an eq quite similar to the emg85....but still they are not the same pickups. And i find the output of the emg85 to be much higher than the customs......If you like the 85 sound get an emg 85,if you like the custom sound get the custom.

I have an EMG 85 in the bridge of my Gibson Les Paul Custom and absolutely love it, alot more than the 81. The 81 is in the neck now. Great solo tone, but not great for clean
