Default Which Antiquity for Mex Esquire?

I have the original Neck and Bridge Antiquity set on a Japanese RI, and they transformed the guitar. I will be getting a Classic Esquire as well, and would love to get the best, most accurate sound I can get. Would an original Antiquity bridge pickup be the best choice, or should I go for the Broadcaster pickup? I know this is all subjective, but I would just like to get the pickup that really would take advantage of the special wiring of the Esquire.

    Many thanks!

    Welcome to the forum.

Which pickup to get depends on what Esquire tone you're trying to get. If I'm not mistaken, for the early 50's Esquire sound you'd need something like the Antiquity 1 or a Jearry Donahue Lead. For a mid 50's sound, the Antiquity 2 or Broadcaster would be a good choice.

Anything after that is beyond me.

Thank you. I'm trying to make a cheap version of the Jeff Beck relic esquire, so I guess I'm going to look for something that is close to a 51 "Nocaster" bridge pickup. You're right, most likely the original Antiquity bridge would do just fine.

    Cool tone is just so....Cool!

Now that you mentioned the Nocaster, I recall that Fender makes a Nocaster lead pickup that's overwound and has alnico III mags. Maybe that would be the ticket.

If you want the sound of the very first Esquires, maybe you should try out the Broadcaster pickup.... its pretty much the exact same pickup that Fender used in their first Esquires since that was around the same time that the Broadcaster was around. I'm sure an Antiquity of any kind would blow minds too!
