Doesnt surprise me at all. Fools.

I like the last alarmed parent "I have witnessed many near collisions".

My wife works as a teacher's aid in an elementary school. This week they are teaching the kids how to play on the playground equipment. They have to do this every year.
Why? I was never taught how to play on the equipment when I was a kid - we just played.
Here's why. If Johnny is climbing on something and takes a risk and ends up falling and hurting himself - the parents will sue the school. The school will then reply with, "Johnny wasn't playing appropriately on the equipment"
The lawyer for the parents will ask, "Was Johnny taught how to play appropriately?"
Well, now they are.
But on the plus side - the lawyer still gets paid!

it's Bullsh*t!
Playing ,chasing ,running is not just a "game" or entertaining factor that you can sunbtitude with Lego! This is vital to growth ,muscle and nerve improvement ,hand ,eye contact improvement ,3D sence ,staying calm under stress and thinking fast ,create will to win ,learning to fall and stand up ,learning to play fair ,learning to try harder and harder ,learning to cope with pain!
It is unbelievable how people getting worse and worse on parenting. The gap between extreme loose and extreme control is growing.Nobody really knows what they do.Kids are not experiment objects!

Because of lawsuits....this will be schools to come: All schoolyard playground equipment will be equipped with airbags, any aggressive contact sports or games will be virtually played on computers & gym class will be reduced to just stretching & meditation.
..in other words, children will be so frail & weak that lawsuits will be filed anyway against the schoolboards because kids will be breaking legs & ankles from stepping off the lowest step of the school bus.![]()

Life's a journey, pack a lunch!.

I think school will become like a clockwork orange. They will be strapped in and imobilized and their eyes wired open.

Why can't the state legislature pass some sensible legislation protecting schools from lawsuits resulting from kids being kids?
Because the legislature is made up almost entirely of lawyers?
Just a thought...

Because schools, being institutions run by other human beings, will then be overprotected and the inevitable morons that slip through and work at said schools will then let it go and let things go too far in the other direction.
A school is still comprised of individual..working in/for one doesn't make anyone automatically a good/caring person...
Just another thought.
With that said, I'm not condoning that kind of behavior/suit... Thank god we, canadians, are still exempt of that kind of sh*t...but for how long?![]()

i feel dirty after just reading that. hey dont go play and run around, sit and play video games and get fatter and isolate yourself
This makes me proud to be a homeschooler. The government's school systems are the biggest waste of land and teachers. Hardly any of them do good anymore. They teach kids here to sit "crisscross apple sauce" instead of indian style cuz it's not PC. Kids dont care or know about that stuff!!

I've never understood this. Isn't sitting "Indian style" a celebration of the culture, rather than a put-down? In the same vien, I went to use my debit card the other day. I had to select between English and Spanish. It immediately struck me as being analogous to the white fountain/black fountain thing. I thought segregation was a bad thing.
And lets not forget . . . it isn't the lawyers. For every trial, there's a lawyer fighting the cause. They cancel out. Its us . . . the jury. If we didn't find for the defendent, these things wouldn't continue to happen.
Its "us" . . . not "them".![]()

It's sad that kids aren't allowed to be kids anymore. Part of being a kid is getting bruised, scraped, busting your chin, etc, etc. I had more than my fair share of stitches, scrapes, bumps, and bruises, and I turned out just fine. Even at the age of 7 I was smart enough to realize that no one aside from me was responsible for injuries I sustained during a few moments or recklessness. I think even my parents were smart enough to know that kids will be kids.
I hope this does not become a trend in schools, be it public or private. I believe that attending a school (again, public or private) is vital in the development of personal skills. Those skills aren't developed staring at a chalk board (or dry-erase these days)... they are developed during social activities, which include lunch, recess, gym class, and so on. Take those away and you're raising a bunch of socially retarded pussies.
I think this over-protection of children ultimately lead to emo. God help the world when emos start raising their emo children.
Another thought... do these parents permit their children to play tag, football, dodgeball, etc, with the neighborhood kids? Assume little Johnny and his friends are playing a little touch football. Little Johnny goes out for a pass and collides with another boy and busts his lip open. Blood pours everywhere, Johnny's crying, needs stitches. Who's left to sue? How is the situation any different if the game occurs on school grounds during recess?

Excellent. Stupid people are growing in numbers. Soon iq-based killings will be permissable.

I'm not trying to start anything but does this kind of crap happen anyplace other than in America?
Just trying to see when I can expect a death candidate around here.
