I think they're mainstream hard-ish rock, & they do it very well. A lot of folks will automatically not like them because of their simplistic style & popularity, but I'm not real concerned with that. Music doesn't have to be technically challenging to be good.

The music in that "Rock Star" song sounds exactly like their song "Feelin Way Too Damn Good" - just the lyrics are changed.
Huh. it's not like Nickelback to have songs that sound exactly the same.
note: *sarcasm in the above statement is buttered on very thick*![]()

Life's a journey, pack a lunch!.

You can argue their musical merits if you want, but lyrically they are only one small step up the ladder from Blink 182. Plus, they take themselves far too seriously.

I'm not a big fan of nickleback, I'm sure they are talented, just not my cup of tea.
As far as lyrics, I haven't really heard any good ones lately......mostly listening to older stuff of late.......Lyrics may be becoming a lost art, anyone heard Honkytonk Badonkadonk?![]()

You can't deny the fact they've written a catchy song or two and have had success doing it.
As far as Chad saying the are one of the greatest rock bands around right now... depending on how you look at it he's right. Listen to a rock radio station for a couple days and come back and try to assemble an argument that among the bands still around today that they weren't among the best you heard on the radio. It's not that they are that great, it's just that the current state of mainstream rock is that bad.
That said, I own Nickelback CDs. Admittedly I spin them from time to time. I'm not the type of person who demands musical or lyrical perfection out of every song I hear.

I can tell you unequivocally, without a doubt..they are not among the best bands I hear on the radio. I think I'd rather listen to the dying-cat screechings of Brian Johnson than listen to the tired, old, recycled garbage I hear Nickelback put out every few years....and I HATE the sound of Brian Johnson.

...they're just boring.
And we don't need people trying to bring the 80s backthat said, they don't anyways... they rip off STP, who ripped off grunge... except sanitized, and smelling like ass...
Well, it is straigh up rawk. If anyone wants to listen to that. I'd listen to something with more character.
I'm surprised they've managed to stick around past 2001.

Nickelback...it's a shame that such good production gets wasted on such aggresively mediocre (at best) music.
Chad Kroeger reminds me of a Neanderthal. Stop squinting, fer fux sake.
