    Default wiring problem, volume knob acting as tone

    i followed the diagram (at this site) for wiring a 1 humbucker 1 volume guitar, but the volume knob is acting as tone and not volume.....any ideas?

    anyone? i really wanna use the guitar i built. i dont think i did the wiring wrong because the guitar itself works.....when i think im turning the volume down the tone goes down instead.... i just dont know how this is possible

    You might have the capacitor soldered to the wrong lug of the volume pot? We'd need a wiring diagram or photos of your guitar's innards to help you any further.
    In 1861 as the Confederate forces were about to fire on Fort Sumter, the blue and gray had infinitely more in common than the blue and red today. What fellowship can "the truth shall set you free" ever have with "there is no truth, only points of view", or "what is truth?"

    Secession would be a horror. But barring a major national crisis like a Black Death magnitude epidemic or nuclear attack to erase once and for all the myth that truth is negotiable, it is coming.

    i thought capacitors only go on tone pots....i just have one volume knob....i went by this diagram http://www.seymourduncan.com/support...1hum_1vol.html

    Did you put a capacitor on the volume pot? Otherwise I don't know. See if you can get us a photo.

    in the diagram (the link i listed) it shows one of the lugs bent backwards....does that mean anything?

    Yes, the bent lug is soldered to the shell of the pot.

    i dont know what you're not getting zhang. i have ONE VOLUME (no tone) ONE PICKUP. the single knob is acting as tone (I WANT VOLUME) my problem is my single knob is acting as tone and not volume. can i make this any clearer. i have one pot in my control cavity and that is it. it should be for volume but it is affecting tone. i hope this is a little clearer. sorry for not having a pic. thanks for the help.

    son of a *****, i fixed it. the lug was somehow not soldered all the way against the pot. thanks for replying guys. its my first time using this board. i'll definately come back for help.
