Default Questions about my JB/Jazz set

I just bought the two PAF Pros krankguitarist was selling. I'm going to put them into my Washburn Idol.

I've been thinking about new pickups for my 335. This wasn't my original plan, but I'm thinking the JB/Jazz set (currently in my Idol) may work well in the 335. I'm a little nervous about doing all the electronics through the f-holes - but I'll get past that.

But I was really hoping to get nickel covers on this guitar. Can I buy aftermarket covers for the JB and Jazz? And is this really such a good idea? Or do these pickups not lend themselves to this kind of mod?

    Any opinions/suggestions appreciated.

Contact Bada Bing here on the forum. I got some original Duncan covers for my PG and PG+ pickups from him. All you need to do is put some two way tape on the slug poles, put the covers on the pickups, and solder the pickups to the baseplates.

I think the PAF Pros would go better with the 335, but, yeah, you can try different setups.

That sounds easy. But does the tape take care of the squeal problem as well as potting?

You might be right, but the 335 is blue and the pickups are yellow And I really think (hope) they'll sound good in my Idol. The JB/Jazz seems a little light for the sound I want out of the Idol - which is pretty much the sound I want from the 335. But I have very little experience with this sort of thing - which I am soliciting advice.

I had no problems with unwanted feedback at rehersal tonight playing my hollow Alleykat through a cranked Plexi model on my GT-8 into a Mesa 50:50 and a Marshall 2x12 cab. Standing in the right place takes care of most feedback problems.

As to what to put in your 335, I found the JB to be all mids in my Sheraton. It sounded too cluttered and nasally with very little bottom. I'd pair that jazz with a C5 or 59.

The thing to ask here is "what would Ted Nugent do?" I say go for it and let us know how it works. The key to a 335 pup swap is assemble outside of the guitar and then insert the tone/volume knobs. It's still not easy....
