    Default Kid Charlemagne solo...not easy.

I've started with a new band and I'm learning some Steely Dan songs we have to do.

I started working on this solo yesterday and man...it's tough.

    Here's a first semi-decent result...it'll get better, I hope.

Larry Carlton smoked back in the seventies, that's all I can say.

    damn!

    so very cool!

that solo is SO HARD (to me) .. you play it very well and if i was in a bar hearing you play that, i'd buy you a beverage of your choice between sets ... nice work .. and i like your liquid gain smoothness tone ... what guitar/pups/effects/amp did you use?

    got tab you can share?

    cheers

Hey thanks man! The recording was pretty bad since I just used a midi backing I found...however I am getting better at it and maybe I'll post a recording with the band in a couple of days.

I just plugged into my Boss GT8 set to a Mesa Boogie combo simulation and I used my custom Strat with a 59 trembucker in the bridge...but I turned the tone control down to 3.

I found the power tab very useful:

Thanks again. I'll keep working at it.

sounds good, larry aint no joke. that cat can play and you did a good job of copping it.
i was going to say "i hope that isnt your band" but the midi tracks explain it

Hey, that was really cool. Great playing. Larry is No. 1 or 2 for me.

Actually, he is playing in town tonight and if I wasn't feeling lousy and had someone to go with, I would be there.

Nice work! I've only recently discovered Larry Carlton, but let me tell you - he still smokes, and Kid Charlemagne is one of my fave solos...

The only criticism I have is that the tone a bunch more gain than LC on the recording - just sounds more modern.
