Now that I've tried a good few pickups, I'm confused on how output affects tone?
I'm also confused as to what makes a pickup gritty or vocal and smooth?
I'm still in search of a pickup for my kramer.(In my sig, it's all maple) I'm still looking for a warm smooth vocal tone from it without to much high mids. (Basically, like the JB but raise the low mids and roll the high mids off. Also with a little more "modern" sound.)
Basicly I just want something that will have not much bite for leads but still be nice and chunky for rythm. I'm also pretty sure I'm looking for a dimarzio tone instead of an SD tone, but I'm not sure.
I listened to the clips of the Virtual PAF on the dimarzio site and it sounds exactly like what I'm going for. My main concern is, will it have enough output for me? What would extra output do? How different would the VHPAF be?
The VHPAF on paper sounds more like what I'm going for. But I'm not sure how it applies in the real world.
Also take my amp into consideration. (in sig)
