I am building an Ibanez Destroyer 7 String out of mahogany. As you can expect that took a rather large 2-piece mahogany body blank. Luckily, I was able to piece the outside mahogany together, after cutting out the Destroyer shape and have the perfect size 2-piece blank for an Ibanez RG (my favorite guitar shape).
Right now I have 3 basswood RG's all with different pickups, but H-S-H. Needing a departure from the norm, and just daring to be different, I have a Lil Screamin' Demon, and 2 Quarter Pounders with a Strat pickguard without a body. My choice was to cross breed an Ibanez RG with a Strat and use a maple/rosewood neck, those pickups and a fixed string through bridge.
I am wondering how those pickups may sound with that combo, and if you all would suggest 250K or 500K pots? Or if anyone has any experience with a Lil Screamin' Demon or Quarter Pounders in a mahogany body with maple/rosewood neck, I'd love to hear your opinions too.
I'll gladly post some pics once I'm done with it too!
