Where is the V1 in a Triple XXX?

hey. I was told to but a mullard reissue 12ax7 in the V1 slot in my Triple XXX.


which slot is the V1?

I can't seem to figure out which it is.

If you are looking in from the back it is the preamp tube furthest to the left. Haven't tried the Mullards yet let me know how you like it.

I would try it in V2 which is next to the right if it doesn't give you the desired effect in V1. I found it had more effect on my Crunch channel to replace V2.

well, there are 3 in the back... and one right next to the power tubes.

It's the one farthest from the power tubes. The closest one is the phase inverter.

As Mrid said - the one right next to the power tubes is your phase inverter. Look in to the front of the amp from the back there are 3 tubes. Left to right is V1, V2 & V3.

Hey , wouldn't V1 always be the tube closest to the input jack side of the head? From the back view, the preamp tube closest to the left side?
