Default New Fender - but which one?

    Hey.

I have spent a few sick days now, thinking about my guitar playing, and setting goals.

    I set myself this goals:
    Complete the Metal Method DVDs.
Be able to play The Unforgiven by Metallica to FULL extent with solo, and NO flaws.

I found that it would be a good goal to have for a 8-9months.

The price will be a guitar I will give myself, so I have something to look forward too I like Strats, and dont want another Superstrat yet, instead I want a real Fender Stratocaster.

    I have some demands:
Vintage White or Olympic white or perhaps Surf Green.
Rosewood board (ONLY maple if Surf Green).
    Usable whammy nar.
With hardcase (Or can be gotten by the side)
A guitar that can take touring, and a guitar I could use and pass on to my kids. A guitar of quality and craftsmanship.
    25.5" neck.
    C-shape prefered.
70s head is a thing I like alot, but can be gotten without it.
If it could be gotten, XJ or Jumbo frets are a plus.
I am gonna modify the guitar later to put DiMarzio HS-3s in it, and a Brass nut for tuning stability.

I am willing to spend 2650 Dollars on it. I have looked at 5 different guitar, each with its own quality.

Some mexicos that have cons and pros.

    An AM standard.

A Yngwie Signature, which has all the features, but the con is the scalloped neck, which I dunno is a good idea?

And the dream strat (from pictures) AM Vintage 62 Stratocaster in Vintage White. It costs 2300 bucks, and I just love its looks etc.

But which strat would be the ultimate out of my specs?

    Thanks alot

    -AH.

If you can get to like another color the Custom Classic looks like it would fit your description, Honey Blonde. Bing Cherry and especially Daphne Blue are awesome. Different strokes though, it is up to you.

Well if the guitar could meet my needs then I can get it repainted, the most important thing is just the guitar can suit my needs.

I have two heavy rock guitars, in this one I am looking for a guitar that can practicaly take me anywhere. If I need sublety, then it has sublety, if I need balls then it has balls. Really a allround blues-rock guitar. I dont know about woods in a strat though? I am really going against a classic Yngwie like strat

If I were in the market for a Fender right now, I'd get the Eric Johnson model.

Yeah, but that doesent get you alot of guitar overhere.

Gibson Les Paul Classics cost that here. Standards are about 3000, and a R9 Historic is 7500 USD here. Guitars aint cheap overhere

Thats why I am buying it in Germany I think, I could get more guitar down there.

You just spec'd out a Jeff Beck signature Strat minus the pickups, which you can change anyway.

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/produ...tar?sku=510638

Either Olympic White or Surf Green, with a rosewood fretboard. I'll let the page above tell you the rest of the specs, though they are almost exactly the same as those you posted. The whammy bar is the 2-point modern tremolo, along with an LSR nut and locking tuners for more stability.

Wow Corbic thats quite a nice axe. They arent that expensive over here. I think I am gonna go and try alot of strats, while I am saving up to get a idea of which one I like the most.

But I really want 2-4 models that seem ultimate on specs.

That 2point tremolo, what are the advantages over the 6point tremolo? I aint going for a modern axe, but a nice vintage Fender vibe

Where the hell did you come up with "$2650?" That's the most specific amount of money I've ever seen, barring cents. Why not just say "around $2500" or "around $2750?"

    Sure around 2700 then.

2650 is 15000DKR so its a round amount in denmark

I just reread my post. About useable whammybar. I love my floyd, and do alot of divebombs, but I aint planning on using it anymore than a guy like Malmsteen does, I just want it mainly for vibrato, which is why the guitar must have a 6screw whammy bar, for vintage tone.

Dude, if you're willing to spend $2,650 on it, why not go Warmoth in the first place? You can get a VERY customized, VERY nice strat from them (even assembled if you like) for at max $1,500, and even spend the extra money on asking for very exotic woods or very premium selections of woods. I can only dream of all I could do with that much money on Warmoth!

As for your specifications, the Lite Ash with mods might do the trick. It comes in vintage white, has C profile neck with 9.5" radius, has Alnico II pickups, and a good tremolo. With an earvana nut and string saver saddles, plus schaller straplocks, you only spend $100 more at max, and they retail for $500-$600-ish. I personally would not do the YM strat thing unless you plan to use only scalloped fretboards (since they require a bit of relearning).

Hmm Warmoth is an options, but I have written to Tom Anderson on a ProAm in bowling Ball finish, so lets see what he has in mind.

Then I have written to a guitar builder in Denmark on a SuperStrat or a Flying V.

I just cannot decide if it should be a regular Strat, because I have a heart for 80s guitars, and they fit my style best, so it might be a waste to buy a Strat just because of looks.

That's the beauty of that much money to spend ($2,600 or so): if you aren't sure, buy more than one. Get a Lite Ash Strat ($630 max) for your strat tones and the American Deluxe Player's Strat for $1,200 (super strat), then if you prefer SD pickups, get a set ($200 max) and get them replaced for you ($100 max). That's still only $2,130 and you get two guitars in the deal. What more could you want?

There are so many options as to what guitars you can get with that much money. To be honest, I bet I could squeeze even three guitars out of that money ($2,600) and still all three would come stock with SD pickups, like this:

    1) Fender Lite Ash Strat (triple Alnico II Pro Staggered pickups) $630
    2) Fender Showmaster HH ('59 neck, PG bridge) $400
    3) Fender Showmaster SSS (triple Five-Two) $630

There's three that come loaded with SD pickups, with C profile neck, for $1,660.

Lol yeah but they cost alot more here

That guitarbuilder could probably do me the Flying V and SuperStrat for the money of the 62 Vintage, if he could that would be cool, but a totally custom built Anderson would be a dream too

I just stumbled upon the Charvel EVH series guitars?

How is the quality of them? And overall feel?

They cost 3800 bucks here, but I could get one in the US perhaps.

Your getting away from your original goal of real strat, and not another superstrat. That's up to you, but I'd go for a 62 Vintage reissue,..... in Lake Placid Blue, of course.

I'd get a Yngwie Malmsteen Stratocaster. I got one in vintage white and a rosewood fretboard. the trem on it is usable but its a typical fender trem so it will knock you out of tune. The HS-3 in the bridge is a great pick up but I'd put a hot Rails in it if your playin metal because the HS-3 is not that high output. The guitar is high quaility Made in the USA

Yeah I am a bit pusseled, I love strats, but I dunno how useful it would be for my use overall :S

    I checked out Warmoth.

For 1030 USD, I could get a guitar with these specs:

    Body: Ash.
Neck: AAA Birdseye Maple, with Maple fretboard.
Finish: Candy Red with Black Hardware.
    Bridge Original FloydRose Black.
    Pu: DD.

Thats also a good offer, its cheap, and I think that a AAA Birdseye maple neck could be cool

Well like I said, you can always ask for AAAA birdseye, AAAA quilt maple, ultra-select Swamp Ash, etc, make this option more expensive by getting better quality wood than "normal". You can call them and ask for something ultra-exotic too, like spalt maple top, or even a "popcorn" maple top (very select quilt maple), etc.

Like I said before, you can go absolutely wild with options at Warmoth and still get out for under your target budget

For that price, I'd ask for something ultra-elite from Seymour Duncan while I was at it, like tappable dual distortions (for reducing output to sound "vintage"), a piezo bridge (for simulating acoustic sounds), etc. The sky is the limit.
