Default Lucy, 'splain-a to me, what's a brobucker?

OK, I've seen all these posts about a brobucker. I've gathered that it's about 10k ohms, something for which people have been clamoring around here for a long time.

What's the scoop, and how does it compare to the rest of the lineup?

I don't know all the details but here goes:

many of the forum "bro's" wanted duncan (the company) to release a 10-12k vintage voiced humbucker. this pickup would have a slightly de-gaussed (de-magnetized) alnico 5 magnet, which would bring it's voicing loser to an alnico 2 but still have a bit of the alnico 5 properties. MJ, in the custom shop, agreed to build these pickups and dubbed it the "Brobucker." The first run of these pickups were available at a special price but are still orderable at the current pickup making rate (approximately $160). There are some stipulations to the ownership of this pickup:
    1. Only forum members can order this pickup
    2. if this pickup is ever sold or traded, it must be to a fellow forum member
there is one more stipulation but I can't remember it at the moment.

allegedly, it is the answer to many a forum bro's tone woes. I personally have not been able to try one but when I get a spare guitar that I can't think of anything to do with, I'm putting a brobucker.

    hope this helps

Awesome pickup. Only thing you need to know.

I've heard the specifications to it, and I think it goes as such:
    - about 10k
    - 42 gauge wire (it's a certain type of wire, but I can't remember the details)
    - Scatterwound
    - Slightly mismatched coils (a la the pearly gates)
    - Slightly degaussed A5 magnet
    - From what I hear, the voice of God himself

That's all I can remember for now, just do a search on brobucker, you'll find what you're looking for.

I got two--one in a LP and one in an SG. To me it's like classic tone with an attitude. I've played metal with this pickup and it sounds great, rock etc...

I recorded a tune with it. There are two guitars used in the distortion part, my LP with the BB and an Epiphone Casino in the middle position, but you can hear the Brobucker.

Those stipulations only applied to the original run because of the special pricing and the circumstances around it. If you buy from the custom shop now it really doesn't apply
