Default Two local kidnapping cases solved ....

    This story is quite unbelievable.

Four years ago, a kid named Shawn Hornbeck disappeared from a county outside St. Louis. Everyone assumed he was dead since there have been no new leads since right after it happened.

Fast forward to this week. On Monday a kid was kidnapped once again, outside of St. Louis. One of his friends reported seeing a white Nissan truck with a camper shell, which was the only lead in the case. Eventually the police were able to track it down. When they broke in to arrest the guy, they found both Shawn Hornbeck alive, and the most recent kidnapping victim.

I hadn't heard the news when it broke yesterday, my friends started talking about it at the bar last night. My one friend said that his sisters' boyfriend worked for the kidnapper at a local pizza joint. Apparently the FBI was grilling people at the store the previous night. It hard to believe these kids were being held about 5 minutes away from where I live.

I can't imagine how the parents must feel, especially after losing hope after all these years. I feel really bad for both kids, as they are going to be mentally screwed up for a long time.

I'm so glad they found those kids.

I heard on the news the guy worked at a pizza parlor and part time in a funeral home.

Guy had two child moletstation convictions. I say strike three, cut off his cajones and put him in prison for about 80 years of intimate relations with a few large surly gentlemen.

I heard that on the news, awesome story! Imagine how the parents must feel after four years. Relieved I'm sure but outraged as well. I doubt they ever gave up hope. They should let the boys family deal with the suspect......but that's not our justice system. Unfortunatly.....

He would probably lucky go get that punishment. I wonder if he will really last long in prison, given inmates hatred towards child molestation.

Better yet, let the parents, armed with Louisville Sluggers, have 5 minutes alone in a room with this scum.

I've spoken to a guy who went to state prison for ten years or so. He said that this wasn't a myth and that you have virtually no chance of hiding what you did.

I think I heard that the guy lived in an apartment. How on earth can you hide a teenage kid in an apartment?......I probably don't want to know.

I wish guys like that would be transfered to a Puerto Rican or Samoan prison.
Those countries are considered a part of the US, so why not?

Or make him a catcher for the Cardinals - with no pads.

Awesome story. There's not an earthly punishment harsh enough for a guy like that. I'm glad the kids are alive. Hopefully they'll be able to get back to somewhat normal lives.

I know where the apartment complex is. Kirkwood, which is mentioned in the story, is an area with old homes and a lot of old money. The apartment was located in Meecham Park, which is one of the most awful areas in all of St. Louis. The guy was a manager at Imo's, a local pizza chain. One of his employees at that particular store was raped by two men in that area delivering a pizza. I'm not surprised anyone in that area didn't know, it is riddled with crime and drugs. They have wiped out most of Meecham Park in the last couple years, making room for large commercial developments. But there still are pockets that are bad. I'm just thankful everything was resolved.
