Smile Most prolific AND covered songwriter ever?

Who do you think it is?

I would say it's a close race between Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson and Bernie Taupin. Honorable mention to J.J. Cale.

Desmond Child shouldn't be "not serious." You'd be just as credible saying Neil Diamond.

Bob Dylan is certainly up there. Hard to argue with McCartney though.

This site says both Lennon and McCartney top Dylan. I don't know how much "cred" the research behind it have...

Did anyone notice that "The Ramones" have 3 writers listed in the top ten? Pretty damn impressive, and suprising (to me anyhow).

According to the link I posted- McCartney comes above Lennon and Dylan next to the both of them...

    Wikipedia states:
George Gershwin's "Summertime" (from Porgy and Bess) has had an estimated 2,600 versions recorded[citation needed], Irving Berlin's "White Christmas" (from the film Holiday Inn) is well known for having been covered numerous times.
    Cool?
