Default Tommy Emmanuel one 'mo time.

I had to bring this up again only because I'm amazed that I could have lived for over half a century and not ever heard of this guy 'til this weekend when GearJoneser started his thread.

Anyway . . . Tommy E. has pretty much shot to the top of my "fav guitarist" list in one fell swoop. Not only is this guy amazingly talented, but the songs are nice. And I mean that as "musical". Great tone, great chops, great music.

Thanks for that thread GJ. I've got some shopping to do.

    Artie

    A big +1 to that.

He's great. I've been listening to him for 4 or 5 years now. My bro in law got to see him live down here in Baton Rouge. I was pissed when he told me that he went and he didn't invite me to go... Bastard.

The closest he's getting to me is Atlanta Ga. I may have to drive up there to see him.

My sentiments exactly, Artie. That's the kind of guitar player I want to be. He's like a shot of adrenaline to my system......just when I've gotten jaded about the state of the guitar world these days.

I enjoy playing fingerstyle/hybrid right now, but I really want to elevate my skill level by buying some fingerstyle lesson DVD's or taking lessons from a guy who can teach the styles of Emmanuel, Dykes, Jerry Reed, Chet Atkins etc.
Those guys take it to a whole'nother level!

    Here's what I'm looking at.

Tommy Emmanuel...I missed that thread. I should go find it and hear what I've been missing.

I ve been learning fingerstyle guitar for 3 years now. It's the style I like the most. (then comes electric blues, classic rock and then classical guitar)

So I bought this book called "Anthology of Fingerstyle Guitar solos" Volume one and volume two. Published my Mel Bay. The books come with sheet music and tabs. They also have CDs so that makes learning a lot easier. Volume one has 3 CDs and it's 408 pages long! Volume two only has one CD and contains Tommy's Son of a Gun!

Great Great books! Worth the money and will keep you busy for years. They contain everything form rags to blues to Buster B speedy pieces...

    Highly recomended!

That's the video that got me into Emmanuel's music! Very sweet playing.
