Surf Guitar Help!

all right. I'm a new guy. I don't have any experience with pick up installation. I'm more of paint job guy myself. And I lost touch with my tech guy. So anyway I want install these Alnico II Pro pick ups in my maple neck fretboard but i heard that there's like a pick up placement thing I have to take into consideration for different tones? I have no idea but if anyone knows how far apart or height or whatever it is to ge that surf guitar You'd be my hero forever. Seriously you would save my freakin' life! PLEASE HELP!

...personally I think alnico V might be better for surf, but no doubt you'll get very surfy tones from alnico II I do.

I'm assuming you're using a strat? Well, in terms of pickup placement once the guitar is made you can really only change the height, which is I guess what you're asking.

Experiment it sounds different for everyone, but I'm pretty sure somewhere on the SD site is listed specs for how high the pickups should be... maybe included in the installation instructions?

But really I'd just play around. Find where they sound best to you.

Seriously I dont know why you would want to install them on your Fretboard.

Jokes apart, all you need to do is just replace the pickups, unsolder the old and solder the new ones.. and adjust the over all pickup height with the bridge pick closer to to the strings and neck a litrle lower... Make a search on the Tips section on the Duncan website... yu get the correct installation tips... also there is a installtion video..

+1 excatly... play around with the overall height and see what you like better... also again I would have prefered alnico V for SURF.. but hey each has his on tone in mind...

Hey thanks to you guys for the help. didn't realize it was that easy. It's sad really just had a slight panic attack cause I was afraid I killed my guitar.
