Default Help me find great pups! Need them right away

I am looking for Seymour Duncan humbucker set so that I can replace active EMG pick ups in my Schecter Hellraiser.

So far, Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker Set(SH-4 with SH-2jazz) , SH-4 JB, SH-6 Distortion Humbucker had caught my eye.

I want to buy good versatile pick ups that will be able to provide me with great sounding metal tones as well as anything else. Sounding like modern Iron Maiden is my greatest desire. If you can help, please do so. Thank you.

Note, I do not want to sound too vintage or 70ish, then I dont want to sound too "nu-metal", for instance... the active emg pick ups.. pure over kill.

Help pls, I need to have them installed before Feb 9th when I go out on stage

Flip a coin because either set would be great in my opinion! I tend to love the DD in Les Paul type guitars and the JB in strat type, FWIW.

Hot Rodded, definitely. Won't sound too nu-metal, JB sounds great for most other metal. Iron Maiden, weren't they Stratocaster players?

The Hot Rodded set will give you excellent cleans (Jazz) and good hard-hitting (JB), and split they'll give you a good wanna-be-strat sound. If you need versatility, they're the set for you.

Welcome Bro! Replacing EMG's eh? If you still want actives, I'd give the Livewires a shot. But then again you might consider them "overkill" seeing their maximum percieved output was literally off the scale. The SH-13 Dimebucker sounds pretty hot. Even in bright guitars it isn't too muddy or ice-picky.

It's all up to personal taste. That's what a guitar collection is for

thanks so far guys! and Beer$, no screw active pups, I'm done with them, I only got those EMGs because they came with amazing guitar that my schecter hellraiser is.

Also, what about SH-6 distortion? I jsut don't want to cut my self short, meaning not enough "kick" If i get the hot rodded SH-4 with sh-2 jazz, but from what I'm reading sh-4 kicks some ass. Plus my amp can take care of the distortion.

1 more thing,... Hot rodded SH-4 is different from SH-4JB ? Or is it not?.. they have two different listings on musiciansfriend.com so I'm guessing they are different... but clarify, thanks!

I also use a JB in my PRS McCarty, closest thing I own to the Schecter you're talking about. It does kick ass, I think perhaps that's the one you're looking for.

I agree that JB might be great for Iron Maiden type metal. However,
I remember reading somewhere that nowadays Maiden guitarists use
Hot Rails in their Strats. If you want that, they might be for you.
    Fender American Series Stratocaster
    Black with Maple fingerboard
    Seymour Duncan Pickups:
STK-1 Classic Stack neck and middle
    TB-11 Custom Custom bridge

SH-4 = JB = hot rodded SH-4. All the same thing. The Hot Rodded thing is a JB/Jazz set.

I'll trade you a new, in box JB, three pots, and a jack for that 81, it's pots, and the jack/battery harness. . Shoot me a PM if interested!

SH-4 is the JB. The Hot Rodded set is Jazz + JB. It's a MusiciansFriend-ism. The distortion is also a good pickup, but in my opinion the dual Distortion set is only for people who play nothing but heavier styles. If you want versatility, Hot Rodded set. If you want to play nothing but harder styles, dual Distortion set.

If you want to have a look at other brands too, check out the Dimarzio Super Distortion and PAF. It's what they used in the classical period, and I think that at least Smith still uses a SD.

    Do they come with pots?

Looks like I'm getting SH-4 / jazz. Unless something shifts me to SH-6 distortion.
