I've heard that about 14 people were killed from the tornado. No warning and it hit around 3am.

Holy crap! I'm no meteorologist, but when temperatures jump from 40 F (4 C) to, 75 F (24 C) in the span of, like, 5 minutes... I'm sure the wind decides to do some crazy stuff.

3am, though! Those people didn't even have a chance to get outta bed!

Man that is very scary stuff. We expect mobile homes to take the wrath but lots of houses were pretty mangled too.

My condo in Tampa just went on the market last week Fortunately, no issues in that area.

im about 20 miles south of john, and it was quite a show all night, lightning everywhere, crazy wind, pouring rain- no way i could sleep. no damage here though.

Forgive me.. I don't know the area of Florida at all.. was New Port Richey hit at all?

No, I don't think New Port Richey was hit by anything other than a thunderstorm. These tornadoes were out in lake county, east of hernando and pasco, where NPR and John are.

i live in New Port Richey- we just got a crazy thunderstorm and wind- much worse than the last hurricane that passed by.

Tampa doin' fine. They did activate the Emergency Operations Center, though. Definitely serious stuff. I work in Hillsbourough County Health Department and had the tube on all day seeing if we we're going to get tapped for assistance....
